Book of Friday Prayer

1 سَيِّدُ الْأَيَّامِ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ وَفِيهِ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ

The master of days is Friday, and on it the Hour will be established

1 hadith (1039 — 1039)

2 تُبْعَثُ الْأَيَّامُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى هَيْئَاتِهَا وَالْجُمُعَةُ زَهْرَاءُ

The days will be raised on the Day of Resurrection in their forms, and Friday will be radiant

The virtues of Friday

4 الْأَمْرُ بِكَثْرَةِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ

The command to send abundant blessings (upon the Prophet) on Friday

5 سَاعَةُ الْإِجَابَةِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

The hour of response on Friday

6 التَّشْدِيدُ فِي تَرْكِ الْجُمُعَةِ

The stern warning against abandoning Jumu'ah

7 الْغُسْلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَمَسُّ الطِّيبِ

Ghusl on Friday and applying perfume

8 أَوَّلُ جُمُعَةٍ بَعْدَ جُمُعَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ بِجُوَاثَا ؟ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ

The first Jumu'ah after the Jumu'ah of Madinah was at Juwatha, (the land of) Abd al-Qays

9 مَنْ غَسَلَ وَغَدَا وَاسْتَمَعَ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَزِيَادَةُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ

Whoever performs ghusl, goes early and listens will be forgiven what is between that and the next Jumu'ah, plus three more days

10 مَنْ غَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَدَنَا مِنَ الْإِمَامِ وَأَنْصَتَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ أَجْرُ صِيَامِ سَنَةٍ وَقِيَامِهَا

Whoever performs ghusl on Friday, draws near to the imam and listens attentively, for every step he has the reward of fasting and praying for a year

11 الْأَذَانُ لِلْخُطْبَةِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ

The adhan for the khutbah on Friday

5 hadith (1059 — 1063)

12 قِرَاءَةُ سُورَةِ ص فِي الْخُطْبَةِ وَالسُّجُودُ فِيهَا

Reciting Surah Sad in the khutbah and prostrating in it

13 سَلَامُ الْخَطِيبِ وَقْتَ قِرَاءَةِ الْخُطْبَةِ

The khatib giving salam at the time of the khutbah

The virtue of al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them)

Those upon whom Jumu'ah is obligatory

16 كَيْفَ يُصْنَعُ إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ الْعِيدُ وَالْجُمُعَةُ فِي يَوْمٍ

What is to be done when Eid and Jumu'ah fall on the same day

17 الْأَمْرُ بِإِقْصَارِ الْخُطَبِ

The command to keep sermons short

18 الْأَمْرُ بِحُضُورِ الذِّكْرِ وَالدُّنُوِّ مِنَ الْإِمَامِ

The command to attend the remembrance and to sit close to the imam

19 سِتُّ رَكَعَاتٍ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ

Six rak'ahs after Jumu'ah

5 hadith (1084 — 1088)

20 مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَةً فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ

Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Jumu'ah prayer has caught the prayer
