حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب الحافظ، حدثنا علي بن الحسن الهلالي، حدثنا عبد الله بن الوليد العَدَني، حدثنا سفيان. وأخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا أبو المثنى، حدثنا مُسدَّد، حدثنا يحيى، عن سفيان، عن عبد العزيز بن رُفَيع (1)، عن تميم الطائي، عن عَديِّ بن حاتم: أنَّ خطيبًا خَطَبَ عند النبي ﷺ فقال: "من يُطِع اللهَ ورسولَه فقد رَشَد، ومن يَعصِهما فقد غَوَى، فقال: "قم - أو اذهب - فبِئسَ الخطيبُ أنت" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that a preacher gave a sermon in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger is rightly guided, and whoever disobeys the two of them (for which he used the dual pronoun) has gone astray." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stand up - or he said: go away - what a bad preacher you are."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) في النسخ الخطية: رافع، وهو خطأ، والتصويب من "تلخيص الذهبي"، وهو عبد العزيز بن رفيع الأسدي أبو عبد الله المكي.
Technical note: (1) In the manuscripts it had become "Rafi'"; the correct form is "Abd al-Aziz bin Rufay' al-Asadi".
(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو المثنى: هو معاذ بن المثنى، ويحيى: هو ابن سعيد القطان، وسفيان: هو ابن سعيد الثوري، وتميم الطائي: هو ابن طَرَفة.
Grading: (2) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note: Abu al-Muthanna refers to Mu'adh bin al-Muthanna, Yahya refers to al-Qattan, and Sufyan refers to al-Thawri.
وأخرجه أبو داود (1099) و (4981) عن مسدد بن مسرهد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (1099, 4981) narrated it through the chain of Musaddad bin Musarhad, by this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 30/ (18247)، ومسلم (870)، وابن حبان (2798) من طريق وكيع، وأحمد 32/ (1382)، والنسائي في "الكبرى" (5505) من طريق عبد الرحمن بن مهدي، كلاهما عن سفيان الثوري، به. وزاد وكيع في آخره قوله ﷺ: "قل: ومن يعص الله ورسوله". واستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad, Muslim (870) and Ibn Hibban narrated it by way of Waki' and Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi. Waki' added at the end the words: "Say: And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger". The author's (al-Hakim's) listing it as a mustadrak (a hadith missed by al-Bukhari and Muslim) is an oversight on his part.
