The Virtue of the Prophet's Mosque

The Prophet ﷺ built this mosque with his own hands after the Hijrah, and it is the second most virtuous mosque on earth. He said: "A prayer in this mosque of mine is better than a thousand prayers in any other mosque, except al-Masjid al-Haram." (Sahih al-Bukhari 1190, Sahih Muslim 1394)

He ﷺ also said: "What is between my house and my minbar is one of the gardens of Paradise." (Sahih al-Bukhari 1196, Sahih Muslim 1391) This area is known as ar-Rawdah.

Visiting Madinah According to the Sunnah

It is from the Sunnah to travel to Madinah with the intention of praying in the Prophet's Mosque, and once there to send salam upon the Prophet ﷺ and his two companions, Abu Bakr and Umar. Our articles on visiting the Prophet's grave ﷺ explain what is established in the Sunnah and the innovations to avoid. You can also watch Makkah live from Masjid al-Haram.
