Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1042

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws bin Aws al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Among the best of your days is Friday. On it Adam (peace be upon him) was created, on it his soul was taken, on it the Trumpet will be blown, and on it will be the mighty blast (sa'qah). So send abundant blessings (salawat) upon me on that day, for your blessings are presented to me." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! How will our blessings be presented to you when you (your bones) will have decayed? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has forbidden the earth from consuming the bodies of the Prophets."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: (1) This is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and its narrators are thiqah.
Variation in the chain: There is a difference of opinion about Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid: according to al-Daraqutni he is the trustworthy Ibn Jabir (so the chain is sahih), while according to al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud he is the weak Ibn Tamim (so the chain is weak). Ibn al-Qayyim discussed this in detail. Abu al-Ash'ath al-San'ani is Sharahil bin Adah.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (26/16162), Abu Dawud (1047, 1531), Ibn Majah (1085, 1636), al-Nasa'i (1678) and Ibn Hibban (910) narrated it through various routes from al-Husayn bin Ali al-Ju'fi with this same chain.
Variation in the chain: In Ibn Majah, at one place, the Companion's name appears as "Shaddad bin Aws", which is an error; al-Mizzi pointed this out.
Repetition: This hadith will come again with the author (al-Hakim) later at no. (8895).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has several supporting reports, which we have mentioned in our notes on Sunan Abi Dawud.
(Note / Clarification): "Wa fihi al-nafkhah" (and on it the Trumpet will be blown); al-Sindi said: this refers to the second blowing (by which people will rise).
(Note / Clarification): "Al-sa'qah" (the swoon/death), that is, the terrifying sound at which a person is struck with fear. It refers to the first blowing, or to the swoon that came over Musa (peace be upon him).
(Note / Clarification): "Aramta" (with a fathah on the ra'); it was originally 'aramamta' (from the root armma), which means to become decayed (the bones rotting away). Through frequent use one 'mim' was dropped.
