Book of Friday Prayer
مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَةً فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ
Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Jumu'ah prayer has caught the prayer

حدثناه محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا الفضل بن محمد الشَّعْراني، حدثنا سعيد بن أبي مريم، حدثنا يحيى بن أيوب، حدثنا أسامة بن زيد الليثي، عن ابن شِهاب، عن أبي سَلَمة بن عبد الرحمن، عن أبي هريرة، عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: "مَن أدركَ من الجمعة ركعةً فليُصلِّ إليها أخرى" (1). قال أسامة: وسمعتُ من أهل المجلس عن القاسم بن محمد وسالمٍ أنهما كانا يقولان ذلك.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer, let him add another rak'ah to it." Usamah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard from those present in the gathering, about al-Qasim bin Muhammad and Salim, that they both used to say the same.

(1) إسناده فيه ضعف، يحيى بن أيوب - وهو الغافقي - وشيخه أسامة بن زيد الليثي فيهما مقال وعندهما مناكير، وهذا منها لمخالفتهما في لفظه.
Grading: (1) There is some weakness in the chain; Yahya bin Ayyub al-Ghafiqi and Usamah bin Zayd al-Laythi have been criticised and have some munkar narrations, and this narration too falls into that category because of their going against others.
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (1121) من طريق عمر بن حبيب، عن ابن أبي ذئب، عن الزهري، عن أبي سلمة وسعيد بن المسيب، عن أبي هريرة. وهذا إسناد ضعيف، عمر بن حبيب متفق على ضعفه.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (1121) narrated it through the chain of Umar bin Habib from Ibn Abi Dhi'b.
Grading: This chain is da'if, because there is agreement on the weakness of Umar bin Habib.
