It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, uses the tooth-stick (miswak), wears his best clothes, and applies perfume if it is available to him, then comes (to the mosque) and does not step over the necks of the people, then prays as much as Allah wills, then remains silent when the imam comes out (for the sermon), this deed is an expiation for the sins until the next Friday."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. Isma'il bin Ulayyah has also narrated it from Muhammad bin Ishaq like the narration of Hammad bin Salamah, except that he specified it with Abu Umamah bin Sahl together with Abu Salamah:

Grading: (1) The chain is "hasan"; Muhammad bin Ishaq explicitly states that he heard it (tahdith) in the narration of Musnad Ahmad, so the suspicion of tadlis is removed. Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (343) narrated it through the chain of Musa bin Isma'il from Hammad bin Salamah with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad, Muslim (857), Abu Dawud (1050), Ibn Majah, al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Hibban narrated it with a similar meaning through the route of Abu Salih from Abu Hurayrah. Al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih". Reference / Source: Ahmad (17/11347) narrated it with a similar meaning through the chain of Atiyyah al-Awfi from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri. Technical note: It also has an addition at its end. Technical note: See also the narration after it. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic the hadith of Abu Dharr will come in al-Mustadrak at (1086), but what is preserved (mahfuz) is that it is the hadith of Salman al-Farisi. 38/ (23571). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The narration of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari is in Musnad Ahmad (38/23571).
