1 الْأَحَادِيثُ الْمُنْذِرَةُ عَنْ يَمِينٍ كَاذِبَةٍ

Warning hadiths about false oaths

8 hadith (7994 — 8001)

2 مِنْ أَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ عُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْيَمِينُ الْغَمُوسُ

Among the greatest major sins are disobedience to parents and the false oath (al-yamin al-ghamus)

3 تَسْبِيحُ دِيكٍ رِجْلَاهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَعُنُقُهُ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ

The glorification of a rooster whose feet are on the earth and whose neck is beneath the Throne

4 hadith (8007 — 8010)

4 مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَهُوَ كَمَا حَلَفَ

Whoever swears an oath is as he swore

5 مَنْ قَالَ أَنَا بَرِيءٌ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ

Whoever says "I am free of Islam" is as he said

6 مَنْ طَلَّقَ مَا يَمْلِكُ فَلَا طَلَاقَ لَهُ

Divorce of what one does not own does not take effect

7 لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ الرَّبِّ وَلَا فِي قَطِيعَةِ الرَّحِمِ

There is no vow in disobedience to the Lord or in severing ties of kinship

8 مَنِ اسْتَلَجَّ فِي أَهْلِهِ بِيَمِينٍ فَهُوَ أَعْظَمُ إِثْمًا

Whoever persists in an oath concerning his family is greater in sin

9 إِذَا شَقَّ إِيفَاءُ النَّذْرِ عَلَى رَجُلٍ فَلْيُكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ

If fulfilling a vow becomes difficult for a man, let him expiate as for an oath

10 يَمِينُكَ عَلَى مَا يُصَدِّقُكَ بِهِ صَاحِبُكَ

Your oath is according to what your companion believes you about

11 الْحَلِفُ حِنْثٌ أَوْ نَدَمٌ

Swearing leads either to breaking the oath or to regret
