Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: In his supplication, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would most often recite:
'Allahumma muqalliba al-qulubi thabbit qalbi 'ala dinika' (O Allah, O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm (that is, settled) upon Your religion).
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Do hearts also change? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! Of the creation of Allah Almighty, among the children of Adam, every human being has his heart between two of the fingers of Allah Almighty; if Allah Almighty wills, He keeps it upright, and if He wills, He makes it deviate. So we ask Allah Almighty not to make our hearts deviate after He has guided us, and we ask Him to bestow His mercy upon us; indeed, He is the Most Bestowing. Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will you not teach me a supplication which I may make for myself? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! Recite: 'Allahumma rabba al-nabiyyi Muhammadin ighfir li dhanbi, wa adhhib ghayza qalbi, wa ajirni min mudillati al-fitani ma ahyaytana' (O Allah, Lord of Sayyiduna Muhammad, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), forgive my sins, remove the anger of my heart, and protect me from the misleading trials for as long as You keep me alive).
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tirmidhi recorded part of this narration.
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

'Ya muqalliba al-qulubi thabbit qalbi 'ala dinika' (O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion).
We said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you fear for us, when we have believed in what you have brought? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, the hearts (that is, the narrator then related the full narration). The narrator al-A'mash related this narration while pointing with two of his fingers.

I seek refuge in You from sin and debt (or having some payment become due). O Allah, keep my heart clean of sins as You have kept the white garment clean of dirt. O Allah, put such distance between me and my sins as You have put between the East and the West. This is what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asks of his Lord. O Allah, in asking You, I ask You for the best supplication, the best success, the best deed, the best reward, the best life and the best death. O Allah, I ask You to place blessing for me in my self, my hearing, my sight, my soul, my creation, my character, my family, my life and my death. O Allah, make my good deeds heavy, and I ask You for the high ranks of Paradise. Amin!)

The narrator says: Then Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I teach you words which are more beautiful than these? The narrator says: It seemed as though he was attributing them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: When you go to your bed at night, recite:
