Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) and a woman from the Qays tribe narrate that they both heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One of them says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
'Allahumma ighfir li dhanbi, khata'i wa 'amdi' (O Allah, forgive my sin, my mistake and what I did deliberately).
The other narrator says: I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
'Allahumma astahdika li arshadi amri, wa a'udhu bika min sharri nafsi' (O Allah, I seek from You the most rightly guided way in my affair, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self).
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, but he transmitted these words: "a woman from Quraysh." The narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
