Sayyidah Umm al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite:
'Allahumma inni as'aluka al-rida bi al-qada'i wa al-qadar, wa barda al-'ayshi ba'da al-mawt, wa ladhdhata al-nazari ila wajhika, wa al-shawqa ila liqa'ika, fi ghayri darra'a mudirrah, wa la fitnatin mudillah' (O Allah, I ask You for contentment with the decree of destiny, a cool (pleasant) life after death, the delight of beholding Your Face, and longing to come into Your presence, without any harmful affliction or any misleading trial).
He stated: This is the supplication which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and the narrators of both are thiqat (trustworthy).
