Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty sent Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) down to the earth, he stood up, came to the Ka'bah and offered two rak'ahs. At that time Allah Almighty inspired him with this supplication:
'Allahumma innaka ta'lamu sariirati wa alaniyati, faqbal ma'dhirati, wa ta'lamu hajati fa'a'tini su'li, wa ta'lamu ma fi nafsi faghfir li dhanbi, Allahumma inni as'aluka imanan yubashiru qalbi, wa yaqinan sadiqan hatta a'lama annahu la yusibuni illa ma katabta li, wa ridan bima qasamta li'
(O Allah! You know my hidden and my open affairs, so accept my excuse; You know my need, so grant me what I ask; You know what is in my heart, so forgive my sin. O Allah! I ask You for faith that permeates my heart, and for true certainty, so that I come to know that nothing will befall me except what You have decreed for me, and (I ask You for) contentment with what You have allotted for me (in destiny).)"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: "Allah Almighty revealed to Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Adam! I have accepted your repentance and forgiven your sin. Whoever supplicates to Me with this supplication, I will forgive his sins, suffice him in all his worries, drive Satan away from him, trade on his behalf beyond the trading of every trader, and the world will come to him humbled, even if he does not desire it.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Nadr bin Tahir, who is da'if (weak).
