Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ja'far narrates: I was with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man came to him and said: Instruct me in supplications through which Allah Almighty will benefit me. He said: Very well. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) the same question that you have asked me, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask Allah Almighty for pardon ('afw, that is, being forgiven) and well-being in this world and the Hereafter."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Sulayman bin Dawud al-Shadhakuni, who is da'if (weak).
