Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection three things will be clinging to the Throne: kinship, which will say: 'O Allah, I exist through You, so let me not be severed'; the trust (amanah), which will say: 'O Allah, I exist through Your help, so let me not be betrayed'; and blessing, which will say: 'O Allah, I exist through Your help, so let me not be denied (or met with ingratitude).'"
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Rabi'ah al-Rahabi, who is matruk (abandoned). Ibn 'Adi said: I hope there is no harm in him.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The womb (that is, kinship) is a part of (the grace of) the Most Merciful. It (the womb) says: 'O my Lord, I have been severed! O my Lord, I have been treated badly! O my Lord, I have been wronged! O my Lord! O my Lord!' (that is, this happened and that happened). The Lord answers it: 'Are you not pleased that I will join whoever keeps you joined, and cut off whoever cuts you off?'" (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: There is a hadith from this Companion in the Sahih other than this one.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Muhammad bin Abd al-Jabbar, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed the womb (that is, kinship) clings to the Most Merciful. The Most Merciful joins whoever joins it, and the Most Merciful cuts off whoever cuts it (kinship) off."
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar; its chain contains a narrator, Salih the freedman of al-Taw'amah, who suffered from confusion (ikhtilat); the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "On the Day of Resurrection the womb (that is, kinship) will be set up with a hooked form like the hook of a spindle, and it will speak with a sharp, eloquent tongue. It will join whoever kept it joined and cut off whoever cut it off."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Abu Thumamah al-Thaqafi, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed the womb (that is, kinship) will be suspended from the Throne."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The greatest usury (riba) (that is, the greatest sin) is to attack the honour of a Muslim unjustly. And indeed the womb (that is, kinship) is a part of (the grace of) the Most Merciful; whoever severs it, Allah Almighty makes Paradise forbidden for him."
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Nawfal bin Musahiq, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says: 'The womb is a part of My (grace); whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever severs it, I will cut him off.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it, Abu Ya'la recorded something similar, and al-Bazzar recorded it too, except that he did not narrate the words: "Allah Almighty said." Its chain contains a narrator, Asim bin Ubaydullah, whom the majority declared da'if (weak); al-'Ijli said: There is no harm in him.
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The womb is a branch that will be holding on to the Most Merciful, and it will plead with Him concerning its right. The Lord will say: 'Are you not pleased that I will join whoever joins you and cut off whoever cuts you off? Whoever joins you will be joined to Me, and whoever cuts you off will be cut off from Me.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Musa bin Ubaydah al-Rabadhi, who is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah Almighty wrote in the Preserved Tablet, before creating the heavens and the earth: 'Indeed I am the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. I created the womb and gave it a name connected to My names. Whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever severs it, I will cut him off.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hakam bin Abdullah Abu Muti', who is matruk (abandoned).
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed the womb is a branch that holds on to the Throne. It will speak with an eloquent tongue and say: 'O Allah, join whoever joined me, and cut off whoever cut me off.' Then Allah Almighty will say: 'I am the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, and I have given the womb (that is, kinship) a name connected to My name. Whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever cuts it to pieces, I will cut him off.'"

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection the womb will call out, saying: 'Whoever joined me, Allah Almighty will join him, and whoever cut me off, Allah Almighty will cut him off.'" (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith is reported from this Companion that Abu Dawud and others recorded, and it is different from this narration.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Every Thursday, on the eve of Friday, the deeds of human beings are presented (before Allah Almighty), and the deed of one who severs the ties of kinship is not accepted."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Al-A'mash says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) would sit in a circle after the morning prayer and say: "I adjure by Allah anyone who severs the ties of kinship to get up and leave us, for we now intend to supplicate to our Lord, and the gates of heaven remain closed to one who severs the ties of kinship."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that al-A'mash did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed the angels do not descend upon a people among whom there is someone who severs the ties of kinship."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Idam al-Muharibi, who is a kadhdhab (liar).
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon and urged (people) to maintain the ties of kinship.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good). The complete narration will come in the chapter on looking after daughters, if Allah wills.
A man from the tribe of Khath'am says: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was among his Companions. I said: "Are you the one who says that you are the Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, which deed is most beloved to Allah Almighty?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Believing in Allah Almighty." The narrator says: I said: "Then which?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then maintaining the ties of kinship." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, then which?" He said: "Then enjoining good and forbidding evil." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, which deed is most hateful to Allah Almighty?" He said: "Associating partners with Allah." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, then which?" He said: "Severing the ties of kinship." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, then which?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Enjoining evil and forbidding good."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Nafi' bin Khalid al-Tahi, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed charity and maintaining the ties of kinship: through both of them Allah Almighty increases one's lifespan, through both of them He wards off an evil death, and through both of them Allah Almighty removes what is disliked and what is harmful."
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Salih al-Murri, who is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No sin is more deserving that Allah Almighty should hasten its punishment for the one who commits it (in this world), along with the punishment He keeps in store for him in the Hereafter, than severing the ties of kinship, betrayal and lying. And the good deed whose reward comes most quickly is maintaining the ties of kinship, so much so that the people of a household may be poor, and then their wealth grows and their numbers increase when they maintain the ties of kinship." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded it in a much abridged form.
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher Abdullah bin Musa bin Abi Uthman al-Antaki, and I do not know him; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah Almighty makes the lands of some people flourish and grants them wealth, although He has not looked at them since He created them, out of displeasure with them." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the reason for that?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because they maintain the ties of kinship with one another."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever the people of a household maintain the ties of kinship with one another, Allah Almighty causes their provision to flow to them, and they are under the protection of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ubaydullah bin al-Walid al-Wassafi, who is da'if (weak).
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Look after the rights of kinship, even if it is only by greeting with salam."

Sayyiduna Abu al-Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Maintain the ties of kinship by greeting with salam."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Learn about your lineages so that through this you may maintain the ties of kinship."

Sayyiduna al-Ala' bin Kharijah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Learn as much of your lineages as will enable you to maintain the ties of kinship, for maintaining the ties of kinship is a cause of love within the family, of increase in wealth and of a longer life."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed the act of obedience that (earns its reward) most quickly is maintaining the ties of kinship. The people of a household may be sinners, yet when they maintain the ties of kinship, their wealth grows and their numbers increase."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abu al-Dahma' al-Nasri, who is very weak (da'if jiddan).
Sayyiduna Amr bin Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Treating relatives well is a cause of increase in wealth, of love within the family and of a longer life."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever would like his life to be lengthened, his provision to be made abundant and an evil death to be warded off from him, let him keep fearing Allah Almighty and look after the rights of kinship."
Abdullah bin Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat) recorded it. The narrators of al-Bazzar are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Asim bin Damrah, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Whoever has been given his share of gentleness has been given his share of the good of this world and the Hereafter. Looking after the rights of kinship, being a good neighbour and having good character make lands flourish and increase lifespans."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that Abd al-Rahman bin al-Qasim did not hear from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "It is written in the Torah: Whoever would like his life to be increased and his provision to be increased, let him maintain the ties of kinship."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Sa'id bin Bashir, whom Shu'bah and a group declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared him da'if (weak); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) says: People mentioned kinship in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We said: "Does the life of one who maintains the ties of kinship become longer?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no increase in lifespan, for Allah Almighty has said: 'When their appointed time comes, they cannot delay it by a single hour, nor can they bring it forward.' Rather, what is meant is that a man has righteous offspring who keep supplicating for him after he is gone, and the reward of that keeps reaching him; so it is as if his life had been increased."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. There is no matruk (abandoned) narrator in its chain, but they have been declared da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: A severe famine struck Quraysh, so much so that they began eating even the (scraps) stuck to bones. At that time no one in Quraysh was more prosperous than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): "O uncle, you know that your brother Abu Talib has many dependants, and you can see the situation that has befallen Quraysh. Come with us to him so that we may take on the responsibility for some of his family." So the two of them went to Abu Talib and said: "O Abu Talib, your people are facing the situation that you can see, and we know that you are one of them. We have come to take on the responsibility for some of your family." Abu Talib said: "Leave Aqil for me, and do whatever you both like with the rest." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) took Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him). The two of them remained like this until they became self-sufficient. Sulayman bin Dawud says: Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) remained with Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) until he migrated to the land of Abyssinia.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyidah Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I want to free this slave." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him to your maternal uncle who lives among the Bedouins; he will do his work for him. That will bring you a greater reward."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
