وَعَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " تَعَلَّمُوا مِنْ أَنْسَابِكُمْ مَا تَصِلُونَ بِهِ أَرْحَامَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ صِلَةَ الرَّحِمِ مَحَبَّةٌ لِلْأَهْلِ ، مَثْرَاةٌ لِلْمَالِ ، وَمَنْسَأَةٌ لِلْأَجَلِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَرِجَالُهُ [قَدْ] وُثِّقُوا .
Sayyiduna al-Ala' bin Kharijah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Learn as much of your lineages as will enable you to maintain the ties of kinship, for maintaining the ties of kinship is a cause of love within the family, of increase in wealth and of a longer life."
