Majma al-Zawaid 13444 — Maintaining and severing ties of kinship
وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مِنْ أَرْبَى الرِّبَا الِاسْتِطَالَةُ فِي عِرْضِ الْمُسْلِمِ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ ، وَإِنَّ هَذِهِ الرَّحِمَ شِجْنَةٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ نَوْفَلِ بْنِ مُسَاحِقٍ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The greatest usury (riba) (that is, the greatest sin) is to attack the honour of a Muslim unjustly. And indeed the womb (that is, kinship) is a part of (the grace of) the Most Merciful; whoever severs it, Allah Almighty makes Paradise forbidden for him."
