Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No sin is more deserving that Allah Almighty should hasten its punishment for the one who commits it (in this world), along with the punishment He keeps in store for him in the Hereafter, than severing the ties of kinship, betrayal and lying. And the good deed whose reward comes most quickly is maintaining the ties of kinship, so much so that the people of a household may be poor, and then their wealth grows and their numbers increase when they maintain the ties of kinship." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded it in a much abridged form.
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher Abdullah bin Musa bin Abi Uthman al-Antaki, and I do not know him; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
