The two daughters of Ulaybah, Safiyyah and Duhaybah, narrate: When Sayyidah Qaylah bint Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to her bed after nightfall, she would recite:
'Bismillah, wa atawakkalu 'ala Allah, wada'tu janbi li-rabbi, astaghfiruhu li-dhanbi' (In the name of Allah, seeking blessing; I place my trust in Allah, and I have laid down my side for my Lord; I seek His forgiveness for my sin.)
She would recite these words several times, then she would recite:
'A'udhu billahi wa bi-kalimatillahit-tammat allati la yujawizuhunna barrun wa la fajir, min sharri ma yanzilu min as-sama'i wa ma ya'ruju fiha, wa sharri ma yanzilu fil-ard, wa sharri ma yakhruju minha, wa sharri fitan an-nahar, wa tawariq al-layl illa tariqan yatruqu bi-khayr, amantu billah, i'tasamtu billah, al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi istaslama li-qudratihi kullu shay', wal-hamdu lillahil-ladhi dhalla li-'izzatihi kullu shay', wal-hamdu lillahil-ladhi tawada'a li-'azamatihi kullu shay', wal-hamdu lillahil-ladhi khasha'a li-mulkihi kullu shay'. Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-ma'aqid al-'izzi min 'arshik, wa muntaha ar-rahmati min kitabik, wa jaddika al-a'la, wasmika al-akbar, wa kalimatika at-tammat allati la yujawizuhunna barrun wa la fajir, an tanzura ilayna nazratan marhumah, la tada'u lana dhanban illa ghafartah, wa la faqran illa jabartah, wa la 'aduwwan illa ahlaktah, wa la 'uryanan illa kasawtah, wa la daynan illa qadaytah, wa la amran lana fihi salahun fid-dunya wal-akhirah illa a'taytanah, ya arham ar-rahimin, amantu billahi wa'tasamtu bih' (I seek refuge in Allah Himself and in the perfect words of Allah, which no righteous or wicked person can go beyond, from the evil of whatever descends from the sky and whatever ascends to it, from the evil of whatever descends into the earth, from the evil of whatever comes out of it, from the evil of the trials of the day and of the things that come by night, except for those that come bringing good. I believe in Allah, I seek refuge with Allah, before whose power everything submits. All praise belongs to Allah, before whose might everything is humbled; all praise belongs to Allah, before whose greatness everything is lowly; all praise belongs to Allah, before whose dominion everything is submissive. O Allah, I ask You by the binding knots of might of Your Throne, by the utmost extent of mercy in Your Book, by Your exalted majesty, by Your greatest name, and by Your perfect words which no righteous or wicked person can go beyond, that You look upon us with a look of mercy, and that You forgive my every sin, remove every poverty, destroy every enemy, grant clothing at the time of need for clothing, have the debt paid off, and grant us every matter that is for the betterment of our world and our Hereafter, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy! I believe in Allah and I seek refuge with Him.)
Then that lady would recite 'Subhan Allah' 33 times, 'Allahu Akbar' 33 times and 'al-Hamdu lillah' 34 times.
Then that lady would say: "O my daughter, this is the head of the closing (that is, the basic way of ending the day). Once the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him to obtain a servant from him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Shall I not guide you to something better than getting a servant?' That daughter replied: 'Yes, indeed!' So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that daughter to recite these 100 words at night when going to sleep."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
