Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) brought out a sheet of paper to us and said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us to recite:
'Allahumma fatiras-samawati wal-ard, 'alimal-ghaybi wash-shahadah, anta rabbu kulli shay', wa ilahu kulli shay', ashhadu an la ilaha illa ant, wahdaka la sharika lak, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan 'abduka wa rasuluk, wal-mala'ikatu yashhadun, a'udhu bika minash-shaytani wa shirkih, wa a'udhu bika an aqtarifa 'ala nafsi su'an aw ajurrahu 'ala muslim' (O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You are the Lord of everything and the God of everything. I bear witness that there is no god other than You; You alone are God, You have no partner. And I bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Your servant and Your Messenger, and the angels also bear witness to this. I seek refuge in You from Satan and his shirk, and I seek refuge in You from committing any evil or bringing evil upon a Muslim).
Abu Abd al-Rahman says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) to recite these words when going to sleep.
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
