Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon, in the last age, people will come whose faces will be like the faces of human beings and whose hearts will be like the hearts of devils. They will be like ravening wolves; there will not be the slightest mercy in their hearts. They will be great shedders of blood and will commit every vile thing. If you follow them, they will conceal you; if you hide from them, they will backbite about you; if they speak with you, they will lie to you; if you entrust them, they will betray you. Their child will be sinful, their youth will be cunning, and their old man will neither enjoin good nor forbid evil. Seeking honour through them will in reality be disgrace, and desiring what they possess will be poverty. The forbearing person among them will be considered astray, the one who enjoins good among them will be accused, the believer among them will be weak, and the sinner among them will hold a prominent position. Among them the Sunnah will be counted as innovation (bid'ah), and innovation will be counted as Sunnah. At that time Allah Almighty will set the worst of them over them; then their righteous people will supplicate, but their supplication will not be answered."

Obedience (to the ruler of the time) and staying with the community are obligatory upon you, for it is the rope of Allah that He has commanded. What you dislike within the community is better than what you like in separation. For Allah Almighty has not created anything without appointing for it a final limit at which it ends. When Islam came, it had firmness, and it will soon reach its final limit; it will keep decreasing and increasing until the Day of Resurrection. Its sign is that poverty will become abundant and provision will be cut off, until the poor person will not find anyone who can give him something, until the well-off person will think that what he has is not sufficient for him, until a man will complain of his poverty to his brother or his cousin and he will give him nothing, until a beggar will go about for a whole week and nothing will be placed in his hand. When such a situation comes about, the earth will rumble with a great rumbling, so that the people of every open space will think it has rumbled only in their own space; then it will be calm for them for as long as Allah wills; then the earth will suddenly vomit out the pieces of its liver."
