Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Earlier, people used to talk a great deal about Musaylimah; this was before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said anything about him. Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up among the people to deliver a sermon, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Amma ba'd (to proceed): The matter of this man whom you mention so often is that he is one of the thirty liars who will emerge before the Hour. And the terror of the Dajjal will reach every city except Madinah, for at each of its routes there will be two angels who will ward off the terror of the Dajjal from this city."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it; the narrators of one of the various chains of Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani are the narrators of the Sahih.

It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man from the people of Kufah was with him, and he began telling him about al-Mukhtar. In one narration the words are: Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Nu'm, and here the narrator named Abu al-Walid is in doubt, perhaps the words are: Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Nu'aym al-A'raji says: A man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about temporary marriage (mut'ah) with women, and I was with him at the time. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: By Allah! In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we were neither fornicators nor those who kept secret liaisons. Then he said: By Allah! I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Before the Day of Resurrection there will surely be thirty or more dajjals and liars." Imam Ahmad recorded all of these narrations; Imam Abu Ya'la recorded the part about mut'ah and what follows it; Imam al-Tabarani also
recorded this report, but he recorded these words: "Before the Hour the Dajjal will come, and before the Dajjal thirty or more liars will come." We asked: "What is their sign?" He said: "That they will bring you ways which you did not follow before, and by them they will change your Sunnah and your religion. When you see them, keep away from them and treat them as enemies."

Shu'ayb bin Umar says: We went for Hajj and passed along the road of al-Munkadir; people were taking that road. We were looking for the way, and while we were there, a Bedouin appeared before us as though he had sprung out of the ground. He said to me: "O Shaykh! Do you know where you are?" I replied: "No." He said: "You are at al-Dhawa'ib, and this white mound you see is the bones of Bakr bin Wa'il and Taghlib, and this is the grave of Kulayb, the brother of Muhalhil." Then he asked me: "Would you be interested in a man who has a written page received from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so that you may hear from him?" I replied: "Yes." So he took me to a tent of leather, and there was a man who had tied his eyebrows up with a band. I asked: "Who is this?" He said: "This is Sayyiduna al-Adda' bin Khalid bin Amr bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), who in the Time of Ignorance was the horseman of al-Dahya'." I said to him: "May Allah Almighty have mercy on you! Narrate to me a hadith that you heard from the mouth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: "Once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up as if alarmed. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! You stood up as if alarmed?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Beware of the three dajjals.' Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! You have told us about the one-eyed Dajjal and about the greatest of liars; so who is this third liar?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'He is a man who will emerge among a people whose first part is destroyed and whose last part is cut off. A curse will be upon them, and they will remain forever in a tribulation called al-Hariqah (the burning one). He will be the Dajjal al-Atlas, who will devour the servants of Allah.'"
