Tariq bin Shihab says: We were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man came and said: "The prayer has begun." He stood up and we stood up with him. When we entered the mosque, we found the people in the bowing position in the front part of the mosque. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said the takbir and went into bowing, and we also bowed; then we walked forward, and we did as he had done. Meanwhile a man passed by hurriedly and said: "Peace be upon you, O Abu Abd al-Rahman!" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth, and the messengers of Allah have conveyed the message." When we had prayed and returned, he went back into his house and we sat outside. One of us said: "Did you not hear that he said to that man in reply: 'Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth, and the messengers of Allah have conveyed (the message)'? Which of you will ask him about it?" Tariq bin Shihab said: "I will ask him." When he came out, Tariq asked him about it, and he mentioned the following from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before the Hour, greetings of peace will be given only to particular people, trade will spread, so that a woman will help her husband in trade, the ties of kinship will be severed, false testimony will be given, true testimony will be concealed, and knowledge will appear."
