Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon when a Bedouin with a harsh temperament stood up and said: "O Muhammad! Famine has devoured us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I fear something other than that more for you: when the world will be poured upon you in abundance. Would that my Ummah did not adorn themselves with gold."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar, and Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and Ahmad's narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Usayd bin Abi Usayd narrates from (the son of) Abu Musa, from his father, or from Ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever would like to put a ring of fire on his beloved, let him put a bangle of gold on her; and whoever would like to put a bracelet of fire on his beloved, let him put a bracelet of gold on her. But as for silver, you may use it."
Ahmad recorded it. This narrator Usayd has narrated from Musa bin Abi Musa al-Ash'ari and Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah; if these two are the ones left unnamed here, the hadith is hasan (good), and if someone other than them is meant, I do not know them.

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: So I took it off.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in and turned his face away from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). She said: "Will you not look at my adornment?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is from your adornment that I have turned away." The narrator says: People state that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It would do no harm to you women if one took a ring (or earring) of silver and then applied saffron to it."
Ahmad and Tabarani recorded it. Its wording is better, and in it are these words: "When I cut it off, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his face towards me." Ahmad's narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Tabarani recorded it. The narrator Ishaq did not reach the time of Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Umm al-Kiram says that she went for Hajj, and in Makkah she met a woman with a large retinue, none of whom wore any jewellery except silver. I asked her: "Why do I see no jewellery on any of your retinue except silver?" The woman said: "My grandfather was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was with my grandfather, wearing two gold earrings. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Two pendants of fire.'" (The woman said:) "The women of our family wear no jewellery except silver."
Ahmad recorded it. I do not know the woman named Umm al-Kiram. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Take off these two! Do you not fear that Allah Almighty may put bracelets of fire on you?" She says: So I took them off, and I do not know who took them. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud

Would you like Allah Almighty to adorn you on the Day of Resurrection with two bracelets and rings made of the embers of Hell?" The woman said: "O Prophet of Allah! I seek refuge in Allah." Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I said: "O aunt, take off the jewellery you are wearing," and the woman took it off. (The narrator says:) Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) told me: "By Allah, O my son! I put it down, and I do not know who took it from its place; none of us turned to look at it." Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! If one of us women does not make herself attractive and wear jewellery for her husband, she loses favour with her husband." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no harm for any one of you women if she takes two rings made of silver and two pearls (that is, beads) made of silver, and then rubs saffron over it with her fingertips; they will then shine like gold."

Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The woman began asking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) questions, and she was wearing two bracelets made of gold. The narrator then mentioned the narration as before.

The woman went out of the crowd and took off the bracelet; then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took her pledge. Then she went out to look for the bracelet, to see it, but someone had taken it away.
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Humayd bin Hammad bin Abi al-Khuwar, who is da'if (weak), though Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy) and said: "He makes mistakes." His female teacher is Taghlib bint al-Khawwar, and I do not know this woman. The rest of the narrators of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyidah Zaynab bint Nubayt bin Jabir (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), says: Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) entrusted my mother and my maternal aunt in his will to the care of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Jewellery of gold and pearls, called "ri'ath" (earrings), came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave those women some of the ri'ath to wear.
Tabarani recorded it with several chains. The narrators of one of them are the narrators of the Sahih, except Muhammad bin Umarah al-Hazmi, who is thiqah (trustworthy), if Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) is a Companion.

Hammadah bint Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla, who was the eldest child of Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla, says: I heard my paternal aunt say: I found Sayyidah Umm Layla (may Allah be pleased with her) having her shift, her head-covering and her wrap dyed once every month, and she would apply henna to both her hands and both her feet in one go. She would say: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge from us on this." The woman says: I saw her with two bangles made of gold on her hands; people held that they had come from the fay' (spoils acquired without fighting). Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla used to do the dyeing for her.
