وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنِ الذَّهَبِ يُرْبَطُ بِهِ أَوْ نَرْبُطُ بِهِ الْمِسْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " اجْعَلِيهِ فِضَّةً وَصَفِّرِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانٍ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), says that she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about gold: may musk be tied with it, (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) may we tie musk with it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Put it in silver and apply saffron to it."
