Hammadah bint Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla, who was the eldest child of Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla, says: I heard my paternal aunt say: I found Sayyidah Umm Layla (may Allah be pleased with her) having her shift, her head-covering and her wrap dyed once every month, and she would apply henna to both her hands and both her feet in one go. She would say: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge from us on this." The woman says: I saw her with two bangles made of gold on her hands; people held that they had come from the fay' (spoils acquired without fighting). Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla used to do the dyeing for her.
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Yahya bin Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani, who is da'if (weak).
