Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I put on a necklace made of gold around my neck. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in and turned his face away from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). She said: "Will you not look at my adornment?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is from your adornment that I have turned away." The narrator says: People state that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It would do no harm to you women if one took a ring (or earring) of silver and then applied saffron to it."
Ahmad and Tabarani recorded it. Its wording is better, and in it are these words: "When I cut it off, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his face towards me." Ahmad's narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
