Sayyidah Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to give him my pledge of allegiance. I drew near, and I was wearing two bracelets of gold. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed their glitter, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Asma! Take off these two! Do you not fear that Allah Almighty may put bracelets of fire on you?" She says: So I took them off, and I do not know who took them. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud
recorded this narration in abridged form.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains the narrator Shahr bin Hawshab, who is da'if (weak), though his hadith is written down. Another narrator is Dawud al-Awdi, whom Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy) in one report and called da'if (weak) in another.
