وَعَنْ أُمِّ الْكِرَامِ أَنَّهَا حَجَّتْ ، فَلَقِيَتِ امْرَأَةً بِمَكَّةَ كَبِيرَةَ الْحَشَمِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ حُلِيٌّ إِلَّا الْفِضَّةَ [ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : مَا لِي لَا أَرَى عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ حَشَمِكِ حُلِيًّا إِلَّا الْفِضَّةَ ] قَالَتْ : كَانَ جَدِّي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَأَنَا مَعَهُ وَعَلَيَّ قُرْطَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " سَهْبَتَيْنِ مِنْ نَارٍ " . فَنَحْنُ أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَلْبَسُ حُلِيًّا إِلَّا الْفِضَّةَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ . وَأُمِّ الْكِرَامِ : لَمْ أَعْرِفْهَا ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Umm al-Kiram says that she went for Hajj, and in Makkah she met a woman with a large retinue, none of whom wore any jewellery except silver. I asked her: "Why do I see no jewellery on any of your retinue except silver?" The woman said: "My grandfather was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was with my grandfather, wearing two gold earrings. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Two pendants of fire.'" (The woman said:) "The women of our family wear no jewellery except silver."
Ahmad recorded it. I do not know the woman named Umm al-Kiram. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
