Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty looked at the state of the hearts of the people of Badr (those who took part in the Battle of Badr) and said: Do whatever you wish, for I have certainly forgiven you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has given every rightful claimant his due, so there is no (valid) bequest for an heir; the child belongs to the (marital) bed (that is, the husband), and for the fornicator is the stone (that is, deprivation)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has given you one third of your wealth at the time of your death (to bequeath), so that your (good) deeds may be increased."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made five prayers obligatory upon His servants in every day and night."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has commanded me to name Madinah 'Taybah' (the pure one)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty commanded Yahya bin Zakariyya (peace be upon them both) with five things: that he himself act upon them and that he command the Children of Israel to act upon them. It seemed that he delayed somewhat in this, so Allah Almighty revealed to Isa (peace be upon him): Either you convey them, or else he (Yahya, peace be upon him) conveys them. So Isa (peace be upon him) came to him and said: You were commanded with five things, to act upon them and to command the Children of Israel to act upon them; so either you convey them or I will convey them. Yahya (peace be upon him) said to him: O Spirit of Allah! I fear that if you go ahead of me, I will be punished or made to sink into the earth. Then Yahya (peace be upon him) gathered the Children of Israel in Bayt al-Maqdis until the mosque was filled; he sat on a raised place, praised and extolled Allah, and then said: Indeed, Allah has commanded me with five things, that I act upon them and command you to act upon them. The first of them is that you worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, for the example of one who associates partners with Allah is like a man who bought a slave with his own pure wealth, gold or silver, then settled him in a house and said: Work and bring (the earnings) to me. So the slave began to work and take the earnings to someone other than his master. Which of you would be pleased for his slave to be like that? And indeed Allah created you and provided for you, so worship Him alone and do not associate anyone with Him. And He has commanded you to pray, so when you stand for prayer, do not look here and there, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, keeps His attention turned towards His servant as long as he does not look here and there. And He has commanded you to fast; its example is that of a man who has a pouch of musk in the midst of a group, and everyone is sensing the fragrance of the musk; and indeed, the smell of the fasting person's mouth is purer in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk. And He has commanded you to give charity; its example is that of a man whom the enemy has taken captive, tied his hands to his neck and brought forward to kill him, and he says to them: Would you agree to let me ransom my life from you and free myself? Then he ransoms himself from them with little and much until he frees himself from them. And He has commanded you to remember Allah abundantly; its example is that of a man whom the enemy is pursuing swiftly, and he comes to a strong fortress and secures himself within it; and indeed, a servant is most protected from Satan when he is engaged in the remembrance of Allah Almighty. And I command you with five things which Allah has commanded me: al-Jama'ah (holding fast to the community of the Muslims), listening and obeying (the leader), emigration (hijrah), and jihad in the path of Allah. For indeed, whoever leaves the community even by a handspan has removed the collar of Islam from his neck, unless he returns (to the community). And whoever calls with the call of the Days of Ignorance (tribal partisanship and the like) is among those who fall on their knees in Hell, even if he fasts, prays and claims that he is a Muslim. So call with the call given by Allah, who has named you Muslims, believers and servants of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has revealed to me that you should treat one another with humility, so that no one boasts over another and no one transgresses against another."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has revealed to me that you should adopt humility and that none of you should transgress against another."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has revealed to me that whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, I make the path to Paradise easy for him; and whoever I deprive of his two precious things (that is, his eyes), I make Paradise obligatory for him in return for them; and excellence in knowledge is better than excellence in worship; and the foundation of the religion is scrupulous piety."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has sent me to every red and black (that is, all humans and jinn); I have been helped with awe (cast into the hearts of the enemy); the spoils of war have been made lawful for me; the whole earth has been made for me a place of prostration and a means of purification (tahur); and I have been granted (the right of) intercession for the sinners of my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has pardoned my Ummah for the whisperings that arise in their hearts, as long as they do not act upon them or express them with the tongue, and (He has also pardoned) that which they are forced into."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has pardoned my Ummah for the thoughts (whisperings) that come into their hearts, as long as they do not express them with the tongue or act upon them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty, for my sake, has pardoned my Ummah for mistakes, forgetfulness, and that which they are forced into."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty, for my sake, has pardoned my Ummah for the whisperings that arise in their hearts, as long as they do not act upon them or express them with the tongue."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has bestowed upon you, as charity at the time of your death, one third of your wealth (that is, He has permitted you to make a bequest), and has made it a means of increase in your (good) deeds."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has shown grace and generosity to this gathering of yours: He has forgiven the sinners among you for the sake of the righteous among you, and He has given the righteous among you what they asked for. Now depart (from here) with the name of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has placed blessing in the pre-dawn meal (suhur) and in measuring."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made the truth flow upon the tongue and heart of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty made the whole world little, and now only a very little of it remains, like a small pool whose clear water has been drunk and only muddy water remains."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has placed the punishment of this Ummah in this world, in the form of killing and bloodshed (and tribulations)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made that which comes out of the belly of the son of Adam (as waste) an example for this world."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made these new moons a means of determining times. So when you see it, fast; and when you see it, stop fasting; and if clouds cover it from you, complete thirty days."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made these new moons a means of fixing times. So when you see it (the moon of Ramadan), fast; and when you see it (the moon of Shawwal), end the fast (that is, celebrate Eid). And if the sky is overcast (that is, the moon is not sighted), complete the count of thirty days."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is Jamil (Beautiful) and loves beauty."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is Beautiful and loves beauty, and He loves that the trace of His blessing be seen upon His servant, and He dislikes wretchedness and deliberately making oneself appear wretched."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is Beautiful and loves beauty, and He loves lofty character while He dislikes base and lowly character."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is Generous and loves generosity, and He loves lofty character while He dislikes base and lowly character."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty held back the elephant from Makkah and gave His Messenger and the believers dominance over it. Behold! It (Makkah) was not made lawful (for fighting) for anyone before me, nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me. Listen! It was made lawful even for me only for an hour of a day. Listen! It is sacred even in this hour of mine: its thorns are not to be broken, its trees are not to be cut, and its fallen property is not to be picked up except by one who will announce it. And whoever has one of his people killed has a choice between two things: either he accepts the blood money, or the heirs of the slain person take retaliation (qisas)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made wine unlawful, has made carrion and its price unlawful, and has made swine and its price unlawful as well."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made unlawful for my Ummah wine, gambling, barley liquor (al-mizr), the drum (al-kubah) and millet liquor (al-ghubayra'), and He has granted me the additional Witr prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made unlawful for you wine, gambling, barley wine (al-mizr) and the drum (al-kubah), and every intoxicant is unlawful."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made unlawful for you disobedience to mothers, burying daughters alive, withholding (the rights that are due) and demanding (what is not due). And He has disliked for you idle talk (qil wa qal, that is, pointless gossip), asking too many questions and wasting wealth."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made charity unlawful for me and for my household."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty made Makkah sacred (inviolable) on the day He created the heavens and the earth, so it is sacred by the sanctity Allah Almighty has granted it until the Day of Resurrection. It was not made lawful for anyone before me, nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me, and even for me it was made lawful for only one hour in my whole life. Its game is not to be startled, its thorns are not to be cut, its grass is not to be uprooted, and its lost property may only be picked up by one who will announce it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made unlawful through suckling (that is, the bond of nursing) all those relationships that He has made unlawful through birth (that is, lineage)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has made unlawful through suckling all those relationships that He has made unlawful through lineage."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, wherever Allah Almighty created a disease, He also created its cure, so seek treatment."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty created the creation, He wrote with His Hand upon Himself (in a book with Him): 'Indeed, My mercy prevails over My wrath.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is Most Modest and One who conceals much; He loves modesty and concealment. So when one of you takes a bath, let him screen himself."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty is Most Modest and Most Generous and Noble. When a man raises his hands to Him (in supplication), He is too modest to return those hands empty and disappointed."
