«إن الله حرم مكة يوم خلق السموات والأرض فهي حرام بحرمة الله إلى يوم القيامة لم تحل لأحد قبلي ولا تحل لأحد بعدي ولم تحل لي قط إلا ساعة من الدهر لا ينفر صيدها ولا يعضد شوكها ولا يختلى خلاها ولا تحل لقطتها إلا لمنشد»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty made Makkah sacred (inviolable) on the day He created the heavens and the earth, so it is sacred by the sanctity Allah Almighty has granted it until the Day of Resurrection. It was not made lawful for anyone before me, nor will it be made lawful for anyone after me, and even for me it was made lawful for only one hour in my whole life. Its game is not to be startled, its thorns are not to be cut, its grass is not to be uprooted, and its lost property may only be picked up by one who will announce it."
