Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Seek me among your weak, for you are provided for and helped only by virtue of your weak."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The human body has 360 joints, and every day charity is due for each one of them. So a good word that a person speaks is charity; a man helping his brother with something is charity; a drink of water that he gives someone is charity; and removing something harmful from the road is charity."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The son of a people's sister (their nephew) is counted as one of them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The traveller is the first to drink, meaning from Zamzam."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The two sons of al-As are believers: Hisham and Amr."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"(When drinking water) move the cup away from your mouth and then take a breath."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"These two sons of mine, Hasan and Husayn, are the leaders of the youth of the people of Paradise, and their father is better than both of them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whenever two matters were put before the son of Sumayyah (Ammar bin Yasir), he always chose the more correct and rightly guided of the two."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"O my sons! Do not stone Jamrat al-Aqabah until the sun has risen."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Talhah is in Paradise, Zubayr is in Paradise, Abdur-Rahman bin Awf is in Paradise, Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas is in Paradise, Sa'id bin Zayd is in Paradise, and Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah is in Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Abu Bakr and Umar, apart from the Prophets and the Messengers, are the leaders of all the middle-aged people of Paradise, from the first to the last."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Abu Sufyan bin al-Harith is the best of my family."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The people of Yemen have come to you; they are the softest and most tender of heart. Faith is Yemeni and wisdom too is Yemeni. Pride and arrogance are among the camel owners, while tranquillity and dignity are among the shepherds of sheep (that is, the people of the flocks)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The people of Yemen have come to you; they are very soft-hearted and tender. Understanding of the religion (fiqh) is Yemeni and wisdom too is Yemeni."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The month of Ramadan has come to you, a blessed month. Allah has made its fasting obligatory upon you. In it the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are shackled and confined. In it there is a night that is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of the good of that night has truly been deprived (of all good)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"One came to me from my Lord (an angel), and he gave me the choice: either half of my Ummah would be admitted into Paradise, or I would be given the right of intercession. So I chose intercession, and this intercession will be for everyone who dies in a state of not having associated anything with Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"One came to me from my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic (an angel), and said: Whoever of your Ummah sends blessings (salah) upon you once, Allah Almighty will, in return, record for him ten good deeds, erase from him ten sins, raise him ten degrees, and he will be answered with the like of it (in mercy and blessing)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Tonight one came to me from my Lord and said: Pray in this blessed valley, that is, the valley of al-Aqiq, and say: I intend Umrah combined with Hajj."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Tonight my Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, came to me in the most beautiful form and said: O Muhammad! Do you know what the angels near to Allah (the Exalted Assembly) are disputing about? I said: No. So Allah Almighty placed His hand between my shoulders until I felt its coolness in my chest, and I came to know whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Then Allah Almighty said: O Muhammad! Do you know what the angels near to Allah are disputing about? I said: Yes, about the expiations (deeds that wipe out sins) and the degrees (deeds that raise one in rank). The expiations are: remaining in the mosques after the prayers, walking on foot to the congregational prayers, and performing ablution thoroughly despite hardship (cold or discomfort). Allah Almighty said: You have spoken the truth, O Muhammad! Whoever does these things will live in goodness and die in goodness, and he will be as free of his sins as on the day his mother gave birth to him. And Allah Almighty said: O Muhammad! When you have prayed, then make this supplication: O Allah! I ask You for the doing of good deeds, the abandoning of evil deeds, and love for the poor, and that You forgive me, have mercy on me and accept my repentance; and when You intend a trial for Your servants, then take me to Yourself without being put to trial. And the degrees (deeds that raise one in rank) are: spreading the greeting of peace, feeding people, and praying at night while people are asleep."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me with fever and plague. I kept the fever in Madinah and sent the plague to Syria (al-Sham). So the plague is martyrdom and mercy for my Ummah, while for the disbelievers it is a punishment."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and informed me that my Ummah will kill this son of mine, that is, al-Husayn, and he brought me some of its soil, which was red."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and commanded me to command my Companions and those with me to raise their voices when calling out the Talbiyah (that is, Labbayk)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and gave me the glad tidings that al-Hasan and al-Husayn are both the leaders of the youth of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and gave me the glad tidings that whoever of your Ummah dies without having associated anything with Allah will enter Paradise. I asked: Even if he committed adultery and even if he stole? He replied: Even if he committed adultery and even if he stole."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: Allah commands you to teach your Ummah to recite the Qur'an in one harf (mode of recitation). I said: I ask Allah for His pardon and forgiveness; my Ummah is not able to do that. Then he came to me a second time and said: Allah commands you to teach your Ummah to recite the Qur'an in two ahruf. I said: I ask Allah for His pardon and forgiveness; my Ummah is not able to do that. Then he came to me a third time and said: Allah commands you to teach your Ummah to recite the Qur'an in three ahruf. I said: I ask Allah for His pardon and forgiveness; my Ummah is not able to do that. Then he came to me a fourth time and said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, commands you to teach your Ummah to recite the Qur'an in seven ahruf (modes of recitation); whichever harf of them they recite in, they will have recited correctly."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: Give your Ummah the glad tidings that whoever dies without having associated anything with Allah will enter Paradise. I asked: O Jibril! Even if he stole and even if he committed adultery? He said: Yes. I asked (again): Even if he stole and even if he committed adultery? He said: Yes. I asked (a third time): Even if he stole and even if he committed adultery? He said: Yes, and even if he drank wine."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said to me: Allah commands you to command your Companions to raise their voices in the Talbiyah, for it is one of the rites of Hajj."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: I came to you last night, but nothing prevented me from entering the house you were in except that there were statues at its door, inside the house there was a curtain bearing images, and inside the house there was a dog. So give the order concerning the head of the statue in the house that it be cut off so that it becomes like the shape of a tree; give the order concerning the curtain that it be cut up and made into two cushions to be trodden upon (put to use); and give the order concerning the dog that it be put out of the house."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: O Messenger of Allah! Here is Khadijah coming to you; she has a vessel containing curry, food or something to drink. When she comes to you, convey to her the greeting of peace from her Lord and from me, and give her the glad tidings of a house of pearls in Paradise, in which there will be neither noise nor fatigue."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and asked: O Muhammad! Are you ill? I replied: Yes. He said: In the name of Allah I perform ruqyah over you, from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul and from the eye of every envier. In the name of Allah I perform ruqyah over you, and may Allah grant you cure."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: O Muhammad! Are you not pleased that your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, says: Whoever of your Ummah sends blessings upon you once, I will send down ten mercies upon him in return, and whoever of your Ummah sends the greeting of peace upon you once, I will send peace upon him ten times? So I said: Certainly, O my Lord!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: O Muhammad! Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has cursed wine, and He has cursed the one who presses it, the one who has it pressed, the one who drinks it, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, the one who serves it, and the one for whom it is poured."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: O Muhammad! Live as long as you wish, for you must eventually die; love whomever you wish, for you must part from him; do whatever deeds you wish, for you will be recompensed for them. And know that the honour of the believer lies in standing (in prayer) at night, and his dignity lies in being independent of people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: O Muhammad! Say. I asked: What shall I say? He said: Say: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which no righteous or wicked person can transgress, from the evil of everything He has created and brought into being, from the evil of what descends from the sky, from the evil of what ascends into it, from the evil of what He has created and spread in the earth, from the evil of what comes out of it, from the evil of the trials of the night and the day, and from the evil of every visitor that comes by night, except a visitor that comes with good, O Most Merciful!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me and said: O Muhammad! Whoever lives to see one of his parents, then dies and enters Hell (for not having served them), Allah has distanced him from His mercy. Say: Amin. So I said: Amin. He said: O Muhammad! Whoever lives to see the month of Ramadan, then dies without being forgiven and so enters Hell, Allah has distanced him from His mercy. Say: Amin. So I said: Amin. He said: And whoever you are mentioned in front of and he does not send blessings upon you, then dies and enters Hell, Allah has distanced him from His mercy. Say: Amin. So I said: Amin."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"In the earliest days of revelation Jibril came to me and taught me the method of ablution and prayer. When he had finished the ablution, he took a handful of water and sprinkled it on his private part."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me from Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and said: O Muhammad! Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: I have made five prayers obligatory upon your Ummah. Whoever comes having performed them with due observance of their complete ablution, their appointed times, their bowing and their prostrations, has a covenant with Me that I will admit him into Paradise because of them. And whoever meets Me having fallen short in any of that has no covenant with Me: if I will, I shall punish him, and if I will, I shall have mercy on him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril and Mika'il came to me. Jibril sat on my right and Mika'il on my left. Jibril said: O Muhammad! Recite the Qur'an in one harf (mode of recitation). Mika'il said: Ask him for more. So I said: Increase it for me. Then Jibril said: Recite it in three ahruf. Mika'il again said: Ask him for more. I said: Increase it further for me. So it went on until it reached seven ahruf, and Jibril said: Recite it in seven ahruf; each of them is healing and sufficient."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"An angel came to me and greeted me with peace. He had descended from the sky and had never descended before that. He gave me the glad tidings that al-Hasan and al-Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise, and that Fatimah is the leader of the women of Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Would you like your heart to become soft and your need to be fulfilled? Be merciful to the orphan, pass your hand over his head and feed him from your own food; your heart will become soft and you will attain your need."
