«أتاني جبريل من عند الله تبارك وتعالى فقال: يا محمد! إن الله عز وجل يقول: إني قد فرضت على أمتك خمس صلوات فمن وافى بهن على وضوئهن ومواقيتهن وركوعهن وسجودهن كان له عندي بهن عهد أن ادخله بهن الجنة ومن لقيني قد انتقص من ذلك شيئا فليس له عندي عهد إن شئت عذبته وإن شئت رحمته»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril came to me from Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, and said: O Muhammad! Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: I have made five prayers obligatory upon your Ummah. Whoever comes having performed them with due observance of their complete ablution, their appointed times, their bowing and their prostrations, has a covenant with Me that I will admit him into Paradise because of them. And whoever meets Me having fallen short in any of that has no covenant with Me: if I will, I shall punish him, and if I will, I shall have mercy on him."
