Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection (people's) sweat will go down into the earth to a depth of seventy arm-spans, and it will indeed (rise and) reach up to people's mouths or their ears."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when all the scholars are brought before their Lord, Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) will be ahead of them all by the distance of a stone's throw."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the evil eye, by the permission of Allah Almighty, pursues a man until he climbs to some high place and then falls down from it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection a banner will be raised for the betrayer (the one who breaks his pledge), and it will be said: 'Behold! This is (the mark of) the betrayal of so-and-so, son of so-and-so.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the thigh is part of the awrah (the area that must be covered)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the grave is the first of the stages of the Hereafter. If a person is saved from it, the stages after it will be easier than it; and if he is not saved from it, the stages after it will be even harder than it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the hearts (of people) are between two of the fingers of Allah Almighty; He turns them about (however He wills)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the noble one, son of the noble one, son of the noble one, is Yusuf bin Ya'qub bin Ishaq bin Ibrahim (peace be upon them). And had I remained in prison for as long as Yusuf (peace be upon him) remained, and then the summoner had come to me, I would have accepted his call at once (and come out). And may the mercy of Allah be upon Lut (peace be upon him); he was indeed seeking refuge in a strong support when he said: 'If only I had strength against you, or could take refuge in a strong support.' [Surah Hud: 80] So after him, every prophet that Allah Almighty sent was sent only from among the honoured and powerful of his people."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the One who made them walk on their feet in this world is fully able to make them walk on their faces on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the One who sent down the disease has also sent down its cure."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the One who has forbidden drinking it has also forbidden buying and selling it. (He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this about wine.)"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, the one who does not pay the zakah on his wealth, on the Day of Resurrection his wealth will take the form of a bald (venomous) snake with two black spots above its eyes. It will cling to him or become a collar around his neck, saying: 'I am your treasure, I am your treasure.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, whoever has intercourse with his wife in her back passage (anus), Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, whoever eats or drinks from vessels of silver and gold is in fact gulping the fire of Hell down into his belly."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, whoever drags his garment (on the ground) out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, whoever lies about me, a house is built for him in Hell."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, those who make these images (or statues) will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: 'Now bring to life what you have made.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, those who cut down (shade-giving) lote trees will be flung headlong into the Fire of Hell."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have disliked for you (the People of the Household) that the dirt of people's hands (that is, zakah and charity) should be assigned to you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has refused my intercession three times concerning the one who kills a believer (unjustly)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has closed the door of repentance to every person of innovation (until he abandons his innovation)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has issued this new command regarding the prayer: that you do not speak in it except for the remembrance of Allah and what is appropriate for you, and that you stand before Allah in reverence and obedience."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty took the covenant from the back of Adam (peace be upon him) at Na'man (a valley of Arafat) on the Day of Arafah, and He brought forth from his loins all of his offspring that He was to create, then He scattered them before Him like tiny ants. Then He spoke to them face to face, saying: 'Am I not your Lord? They all answered: Yes indeed! (You are our Lord).' [Surah al-A'raf: 172]"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty brought forth the offspring of Adam (peace be upon him) from his back, then 'made them testify concerning themselves, asking: Am I not your Lord? They answered: Yes indeed!' [Surah al-A'raf: 172] Then He took them in His two handfuls and said: These will go to Paradise and these will go to Hell. So the people of Paradise are eased towards the deeds of the people of Paradise, and the people of Hell are eased towards the deeds of the people of Hell."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty brought me forth through (lawful) marriage, and He did not bring me forth through fornication (the path of indecency). (That is, my lineage is pure and rests upon lawful, Shari'ah-sanctioned marriage.)"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty loves the people of a household, He instils gentleness and kindness among them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty loves a servant, He calls Jibril (peace be upon him) and says: I love so-and-so, so you love him too. So Jibril loves him too. Then he calls out among the inhabitants of the heavens: Indeed, Allah Almighty loves so-and-so, so you love him too. So the inhabitants of the heavens love him too, and then acceptance is placed for him in the hearts of the people of the earth as well. And when Allah hates a servant, He calls Jibril (peace be upon him) and says: I hate so-and-so, so you hate him too. So Jibril hates him too. Then he calls out among the inhabitants of the heavens: Indeed, Allah Almighty hates so-and-so, so you hate him too. So they all hate him too, and then aversion and hatred are placed for him in the hearts of the people of the earth as well."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty loves a people, He afflicts them with trials. So whoever is patient (in those trials) will have (the excellent reward of) patience, and whoever shows impatience will have (the burden of) impatience."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty intends mercy for a nation from among His servants, He takes its Prophet in death before it, and makes him a forerunner and one who goes ahead to prepare for that nation. And when Allah intends the destruction of a nation, He punishes them while their Prophet is alive, so He destroys them before his eyes and cools that Prophet's eyes with their destruction, because they rejected him and disobeyed his command."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when something is entrusted to Allah Almighty for safekeeping, He guards it (in the best way)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty grants a Prophet some provision (property or wealth), it belongs (after his death) to the one who succeeds him after him (that is, his caliph) (inheritance does not apply to it)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty sends down His punishments upon those deserving of His wrath, and at that same time the appointed hour of death of some righteous people also arrives, they too are destroyed along with them. Then (on the Day of Resurrection) they will be raised according to their intentions and their deeds."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty bestows a blessing upon a servant, He loves that the trace of His blessing be seen upon that servant. He dislikes wretchedness and deliberately displaying poverty, He hates the beggar who clings and asks insistently, and He loves the modest, chaste one who refrains from asking."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, when Allah Almighty sends down one of His blessings upon a servant, He loves that the trace of His blessing be visible upon His servant."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, when Allah Almighty descends in His majesty to judge between His servants, and every nation is fallen on its knees, then among the first to be called will be a man who memorised the Qur'an, a man who was killed in the path of Allah, and a man who had much wealth. Allah Almighty will say to the reciter of the Qur'an: Did I not teach you what I sent down upon My Messenger? He will say: Yes indeed, O my Lord! Allah will ask: What did you do with your knowledge? He will say: I used to stand (in prayer) with it through the hours of the night and the day. Then Allah will say to him: You have lied. And the angels will also say to him: You have lied. Allah Almighty will say: Rather, your intention was that it be said that so-and-so is a great reciter, and that has been said. Then the wealthy man will be brought, and Allah will ask him: Did I not give you such abundance that I did not leave you in need of anyone? He will say: Yes indeed, O my Lord! Allah will ask: What did you do with what I gave you? He will say: I used to maintain ties of kinship and give in charity. Allah will say: You have lied. And the angels will also say: You have lied. Allah will say: Rather, your intention was that it be said that so-and-so is very generous, and that has been said. Then the man who was killed in the path of Allah will be brought, and Allah will ask him: For what were you killed? He will say: You commanded jihad in Your path, so I fought until I was killed. Allah will say: You have lied. The angels will also say to him: You have lied. Allah will say: Rather, you wanted it to be said that so-and-so is very brave, and that has been said. (Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) O Abu Hurayrah! These are the three kinds of people with whom the Fire of Hell will be kindled first on the Day of Resurrection."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has permitted me to tell about a rooster (an angel in the form of a rooster) whose feet have pierced through the depths of the earth and whose neck is bent beneath the Throne, and it is saying: 'Subhanaka ma a'zamak' ((O Allah!) Glory be to You, how immense is Your greatness!). Then it is answered (by Allah): The one who swears falsely by Me does not know this reality."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has sent me as a conveyor (of the message of the religion), and He did not send me as one who puts people into hardship (or who imposes needless severity)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty turned my face towards al-Sham and my back towards Yemen, and said to me: O Muhammad! I have made what is in front of you a source of spoils and provision for you, and what is behind your back a source of support for you. Islam will continue to increase, and shirk and the polytheists will continue to decrease, until two women will travel together fearing nothing except injustice. And by the One in whose hand is my soul! The days and nights will not come to an end until this religion reaches as far as this star reaches."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty chose Kinanah from the descendants of Isma'il (peace be upon him), chose Quraysh from Kinanah, chose Banu Hashim from Quraysh, and chose me from Banu Hashim."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Indeed, Allah Almighty has chosen four phrases from all speech: 'Subhan Allah' (Glory be to Allah), 'wal-hamdu lillah' (and praise be to Allah), 'wa la ilaha illallah' (and there is no god but Allah), and 'wallahu akbar' (and Allah is the Greatest). So whoever says 'Subhan Allah', twenty good deeds are written for him and twenty of his sins are erased. Whoever says 'wallahu akbar' has the same reward, and whoever says 'wa la ilaha illallah' has the same as well. And whoever says 'al-hamdu lillahi rabbil-'alamin' (praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds) sincerely from his heart, thirty good deeds are written for him and thirty of his sins are erased."
