Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The dating (that is, the Hijri calendar) began from the year in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah (after emigrating), and in that same year Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) was born.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains the narrator Ya'qub bin Abbad al-Makki, and I have not seen anyone mention him.

Ahmad (in his Musnad) and Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it, and (Tabarani's version) has these additional words: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) was victorious at the Battle of Badr on a Monday, and this verse of Surah al-Ma'idah was revealed on a Monday: 'Today I have perfected your religion for you.'" The chain of this report contains the narrator Ibn Lahi'ah, and he is da'if (weak), while the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy) and are among the narrators of the Sahih.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Have you sought refuge from the evil of the devils among the jinn and mankind?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Who was the first of the prophets?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him)." I asked: "Was he a prophet?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes, Allah spoke to him." I asked: "Then who (was the next prophet)?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him), and between the two of them there were ten generations." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about prayer." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is a good that has been made obligatory; whoever wishes may do more of it." I said: "And charity?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Its reward) is multiplied many times over." I said: "And fasting?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fasting is a shield. Allah Almighty has said: 'Fasting is for Me, and I shall give the reward for it.'" (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, the smell of the fasting person's mouth is purer in the sight of Allah Almighty than the fragrance of musk." (Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates:) I asked: "Which charity is most excellent?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The effort of a person of little means (in giving charity), or (giving charity) secretly to a poor person." I said: "Which slave (to be freed) is most excellent?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one whose price is highest."

Rather, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When one hundred years have passed, none of the people who are alive today will remain alive.'" (Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) "By Allah! After one hundred years have passed, ease (or prosperity) will come to this Ummah."

Nu'aym bin Dajajah narrates: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Farrukh has come." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do you give people rulings?" He replied: "Yes! I tell them about the times, that what comes later will be worse." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Then tell me: did you hear anything from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "Yes! I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'After one hundred years have passed, no one will remain alive on the face of the earth.'" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have erred (in understanding its meaning), and you erred in your first ruling. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant those who were present there at that time (none of them would remain alive after one hundred years had passed). (For the Ummah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him),) ease will come only after one hundred years."

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Bedouins were the boldest of people in asking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) questions. Once a Bedouin came to him and asked: "O Messenger of Allah! When will the Hour come?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him no answer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the mosque and offered a brief prayer, then he turned towards the Bedouin and said: "Where is the one who asked about the Hour?" Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If this man lives out his natural lifespan, not one of you will remain alive (by that time)." Abu Ya'la recorded it. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" this narration is reported from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): "If this one lives until he completes his natural lifespan, the Hour will be established before he dies."
This narration is clearer, even though its chain contains a narrator, Sufyan bin Waki', and he is da'if (weak).

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its narrator Sa'id bin Abi Shimr was mentioned by Ibn Abi Hatim, who said: He narrated from his father, and Abu Bakr bin Sawad narrated from him. However, Abd al-Rahman bin Shurayh has also narrated from him, and no one has declared him weak. The rest of its narrators have been declared trustworthy.

This narration is reported from Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him): The narrator Mu'awiyah once narrated it as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), and once did not narrate it as marfu' (but rather as mawquf, the words being): "Indeed, Allah Almighty will not leave this Ummah unable to reach half a day (that is, five hundred years). When you see Syria (al-Sham) become the dining spread of one man and his household, at that time Constantinople will be conquered."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tabarani recorded this narration. The author of "al-Atraf" attributed it to Abu Dawud and said that it is in the chapter on the great battles (al-Malahim), but I did not find it in that book. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, about whom there is disagreement over whether he can be used as evidence; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna al-Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have gone too far. It will not be that Allah Almighty does not grant this Ummah even half a day", by which he meant 500 years.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Baqiyyah bin al-Walid, and he is thiqah (trustworthy) but a mudallis (one who conceals the source of a narration).

Mahdi bin Imran narrated it; al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This narrator is not corroborated in his narration from Sayyiduna Abu al-Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him), and he mentioned a hadith of his stating that the Dajjal is Ibn Sayyad. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I do not know what al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) meant: whether he is not corroborated in that one hadith alone, or whether he meant all the hadith narrated by this narrator. The other narrator is Khalid bin Abi Yahya; I have not found anyone who mentions him.

Yahya bin Ma'in and I went, and we heard hadith from him.

My father was among those who went out, and I was a boy in those days. When my father returned, he said to my mother: 'Give instructions concerning this cooking pot, that its food be thrown to the dogs, for we have accepted Islam.'"
