وَعَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ دَجَاجَةَ قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ إِذْ جَاءَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ : قَدْ جَاءَ فَرُّوخُ فَجَلَسَ ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ : إِنَّكَ تُفْتِي النَّاسَ ؟ قَالَ : أَجَلْ ، وَأُخْبِرُهُمُ [ السَّاعَةَ ] أَنَّ الْآخَرَ شَرٌّ . قَالَ : فَأَخْبِرْنِي ، هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " لَا يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ مِائَةُ سَنَةٍ وَعَلَى الْأَرْضِ عَيْنٌ تَطْرِفُ " ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ : أَخْطَأَتِ اسْتُكَ الْحُفْرَةَ ، وَأَخْطَأْتَ فِي أَوَّلِ فُتْيَاكَ ، إِنَّمَا قَالَ ذَاكَ لِمَنْ حَضَرَهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، هَلِ الرَّخَاءُ إِلَّا بَعْدَ الْمِائَةِ ؟ .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ أَيْضًا .

Nu'aym bin Dajajah narrates: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Farrukh has come." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do you give people rulings?" He replied: "Yes! I tell them about the times, that what comes later will be worse." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Then tell me: did you hear anything from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "Yes! I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'After one hundred years have passed, no one will remain alive on the face of the earth.'" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have erred (in understanding its meaning), and you erred in your first ruling. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant those who were present there at that time (none of them would remain alive after one hundred years had passed). (For the Ummah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him),) ease will come only after one hundred years."
