Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution and does it very well, then goes out for the prayer, he does not lift his right foot except that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, writes a good deed for him, and he does not put down his left foot except that Allah Almighty wipes away one of his sins. So let any of you live near (the mosque) or come from far away, as he wishes. Then, if he comes to the mosque and prays in congregation, he is forgiven. If he comes to the mosque when the people have prayed part of the prayer and part of it remains, let him pray the remaining part with them and complete (afterwards) what he missed. And if he comes to the mosque when the people have already prayed, and he completes his prayer on his own, he will still receive the same (reward of the congregation)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution and does it very well, then goes out to the mosque, and nothing but the intention of prayer brings him out (of his house), his left foot keeps wiping away a sin from him and his right foot keeps writing a good deed for him until he enters the mosque. And if people knew how much reward there is in the Isha and Fajr prayers, they would surely come to them, even if they had to come crawling on their knees."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution and does it very well, then goes out intending the mosque, let him not interlace the fingers of his hands (tashbik), for he is (even while walking to the mosque) in a state of prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution, let him put water into his nose and then blow it out to clean it; and when he uses stones (for istinja'), let him use an odd number."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution, let him put water into his nose and then blow it out; and when he blows his nose, let him do so an odd number of times (once, three times and so on)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution in his house and then comes to the mosque, he remains in a state of prayer until he returns, so let him not do like this." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) interlaced his fingers (tashbik) to demonstrate.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you has performed ablution for the prayer, let him not interlace his fingers (that is, let him not do tashbik)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you performs ablution and puts on his leather socks (khuffs), let him pray in them and wipe over them; then, if he wishes, he need not take them off, except in the state of major ritual impurity (janabah, when ghusl becomes obligatory)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a Muslim man performs ablution, his sins leave from his hearing, his sight, his hands and his feet; then, if he sits down, he sits in a state in which he has been forgiven."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a believing servant performs ablution and rinses his mouth, the sins leave from his mouth. Then, when he blows out his nose, the sins leave from his nose. Then, when he washes his face, the sins leave from his face, until they leave even from beneath his eyelashes. Then, when he washes his hands, the sins leave from his hands, until they leave even from beneath the fingernails of his hands. Then, when he wipes his head, the sins leave from his head, until they leave even from his ears. Then, when he washes his feet, the sins leave from his feet, until they leave even from beneath the toenails of his feet. Then his walking to the mosque and his prayer become additional reward (nafilah) for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a Muslim or believing servant performs ablution and washes his face, every sin he looked at with his eyes comes out from his face with the water, or with the last drop of the water. Then when he washes his hands, every sin his hands committed comes out from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of the water. Then when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet walked comes out with the water, or with the last drop of the water, until he emerges completely pure of sins."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you perform ablution, blow out your nose, and when you clean yourself after relieving yourself (with stones and the like), use an odd number (of stones)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you perform ablution, pass your fingers between the fingers of your hands and the toes of your feet."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you perform ablution, pass your fingers between your fingers."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you perform ablution, begin with your right side."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you dies and he has something (of financial means), let him be shrouded in a striped Yemeni cloth (hibarah)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the iqamah is called for the prayer, do not come to it running, but come to it in a state of dignity and tranquillity. Pray whatever (of the prayer) you catch, and complete (afterwards) whatever you have missed, for when one of you sets out intending the prayer, he is already in a state of prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes to the Friday prayer, he must never make anyone get up from his place and then sit there himself."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes to the Friday prayer, he should take a ritual bath (ghusl)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes to the prayer, let him walk calmly and gently; let him pray whatever part he catches and complete (afterwards) whatever has passed him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes to the mosque, let him pray two rak'ahs (tahiyyat al-masjid) before he sits down; then after that he may sit if he wishes, or go about his business."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes to the mosque, let him look (at his sandals); if he sees any dirt or impurity on his sandals, let him wipe it off and pray in them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes to a gathering and room is made for him, let him sit there, for it is an honour with which Allah Almighty and his Muslim brother have honoured him. And if room is not made for him, let him look for the most spacious place and sit there."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes and his brother makes room for him, it is indeed an honour with which Allah Almighty has honoured him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you comes (to the mosque) on Friday while the imam is delivering the sermon, let him pray two rak'ahs (tahiyyat al-masjid) and keep them brief."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"If someone comes asking for the price of a dog, fill his palm with dust (that is, give him nothing at all)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a man comes to visit a sick person, let him say this supplication: 'Allahumma-shfi 'abdaka fulanan yanka'u laka 'aduwwan aw yamshi laka ila as-salah' (O Allah, heal Your servant so-and-so, so that he may inflict harm on an enemy of Yours for Your sake, or walk to the prayer for Your pleasure)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you come (to the mosque), pray with the people (in congregation), even if you have already prayed (alone)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you come to the prayer while we are in prostration, then prostrate too, but do not count it as anything (i.e. as a rak'ah); and whoever catches the rak'ah has caught the prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the servant of one of you brings him his food, let him seat him with him, or give him some of it to eat, for he is the one who endured its heat and smoke (in preparing the food)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are bound in chains."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of mercy are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are bound in chains."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the month of Ramadan comes, fast thirty days, unless you see the (Shawwal) crescent moon before that."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When something of this wealth comes to you while you were neither hoping for it nor asking for it, take it; and whatever does not come to you, do not let your soul chase after it (do not covet it)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a man has intercourse with his wife and then becomes slack (before ejaculation), let him wash what has touched him from the woman, and then perform ablution."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the circumcised part passes beyond the circumcised part (that is, when the private parts of the man and the woman meet), the ritual bath (ghusl) becomes obligatory."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you place in front of you (while praying) something like the back post of a camel saddle (as a sutrah), whoever passes in front of you will not harm you (with any sin)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sits to relieve himself, let him neither face the qiblah nor turn his back towards it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When two disputing parties sit before you (with their case) and you have heard from one of them, do not judge for either of them until you have heard from the other just as you heard from the first, for when you do that, the judgement will become perfectly clear to you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a man sits between a woman's four limbs (her arms and legs) and then exerts himself with her (in intercourse), the ritual bath (ghusl) becomes obligatory upon him, even if there is no ejaculation."
