Hadith Beginning with the Letter Alif (أ)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the (first) ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah) begin and any of you intends to offer a sacrifice, he should not cut anything from his hair or his body (such as nails or skin)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise and the people of Hell have entered Hell, a caller will call out: 'O people of Paradise! You have a promise with Allah which He wishes to fulfil for you.' They will say: 'What is it? Has Allah not made our scales heavy, made our faces bright, admitted us into Paradise and saved us from Hell?' Then the veil will be lifted and they will behold Allah. By Allah! Allah will not have given them anything more beloved to them than beholding Him, nor anything more delightful to their eyes."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise and the people of Hell have entered Hell, death will be brought in the form of a black-and-white ram and made to stand between Paradise and Hell. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise! Do you recognise this?' They will raise their necks and look, and say: 'Yes, this is death.' And all of them will have seen it. Then it will be called out: 'O people of Hell! Do you recognise this?' They too will raise their necks and look, and say: 'Yes, this is death.' And all of them will have seen it. Then the command will be given and it will be slaughtered, and it will be said: 'O people of Paradise! Now you will remain here forever, and there is no death. And O people of Hell! Now you will remain here forever, and there is no death.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise, Allah Almighty will say: 'Do you want anything more that I may give you in addition?' They will say: 'Have You not made our faces bright? Have You not admitted us into Paradise and saved us from Hell?' Then the veil will be lifted, and they will not have been given anything more beloved to them than beholding their Lord."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the people of Paradise have entered Paradise, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: 'Do you desire anything, that I may give it to you in addition?' They will say: 'Our Lord! What could be greater than what You have given us?' Then Allah will say: 'My good pleasure is the greatest (blessing).'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you return (from a journey) at night, do not go in to your family suddenly, so that the woman whose husband was away may remove her pubic hair and the woman with dishevelled hair may comb her hair."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you enter a house, greet its occupants with salam, and when you leave, bid its residents farewell with salam."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you enter a mosque, pray with the people (in congregation), even if you have already prayed (alone)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you invites his brother, he should accept the invitation, whether it is a wedding feast (walimah) or some other occasion like it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you supplicates, he should not say: 'O Allah, forgive me if You wish.' Rather, he should ask with firm conviction and keep his longing high, for nothing that Allah gives is difficult or great for Him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you supplicates, he should ask with firm conviction and not say: 'O Allah, if You wish, then give me,' for there is no one who can compel Allah Almighty (that is, force Him)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses to come, and the husband spends the night angry with her, the angels curse that woman until morning."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a man calls his wife to his bed, she should respond to him at once, even if she is (riding) on the saddle of a camel."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a man calls his wife for his (physical) need, she should come to him at once, even if she is (working) at the oven."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a person supplicates for someone in his absence, the angel says to him: 'And for you the like of that.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a wedding feast (walimah), he should certainly attend it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a meal, he should accept, and then if he wishes he may eat, and if he wishes he may not eat."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a meal, he should accept; then if he is not fasting he should eat, and if he is fasting he should supplicate for blessing (for the host)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a meal, he should accept; if he is not fasting he should eat, and if he is fasting he should supplicate for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a meal while he is fasting, he should say: 'I am fasting.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a wedding feast (walimah), he should accept."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is invited to a wedding feast (walimah), he should accept, even if he is fasting."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you is called and he comes along with the messenger, then that (coming along with him) is his permission (to enter)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you are invited even to (a humble meal such as goat's) trotters, accept the invitation."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When my Companions are mentioned (critically), restrain (your tongues); when the stars (and their supposed influence) are mentioned, remain silent; and when predestination (qadar) is debated, refrain from it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When you are restrained from something by being reminded of Allah (adjured by Allah), stop at once."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you goes to relieve himself, he should take three stones with him with which to clean himself, for indeed they will suffice for him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you sees a good dream, he should interpret it (favourably) and tell (others) about it; and when he sees a bad dream, he should neither interpret it nor tell anyone about it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When any of you sees a dream that he likes, it is indeed from Allah Almighty; he should praise Allah for it and relate it (to others). And when he sees something other than that, a dream that he dislikes, it is from Satan; he should seek refuge in Allah and not mention it to anyone, and then that dream will certainly not harm him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees a dream that he likes, it is indeed from Allah Almighty; let him praise Allah for it and let him relate it (to others). And when he sees something other than that, a dream that he dislikes, it is from Satan; let him seek refuge with Allah from its evil and not mention it to anyone, and then it will not harm him at all."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him spit (lightly) to his left three times, seek refuge with Allah from Satan (and his evil) three times, and turn over from the side on which he was lying."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees a woman who attracts him, let him return at once to his wife and have intercourse with her, for what that (unrelated woman) has, the same is with (his wife) as well."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees a funeral procession and he is not walking with it, let him stand up until it passes ahead, or he leaves the funeral behind, or it is placed (on the ground) before it passes him."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him turn over, spit (lightly) to his left three times, ask Allah Almighty for the good of that dream, and seek refuge with Allah from its evil."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees someone afflicted (or sick) and says: 'Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi 'afani mimmab-talaka bihi wa faddalani 'alayka wa 'ala kathirin min 'ibadihi tafdila' (All praise is for Allah who has kept me safe from that with which He has afflicted you, and has greatly favoured me over you and over many of His servants), then that is the thanks for that blessing (of well-being)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you sees something in himself, in his wealth, or in his brother that pleases him, let him pray for blessing for it, for the evil eye is real."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the believer sees the spaciousness (and blessings) of his grave, he says: 'Let me go so that I may give this good news to my family.' It is said to him: 'Rest here in peace (now).'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a woman sees (a wet dream) and has a discharge (of sexual fluid), ritual bath (ghusl) becomes obligatory upon her."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When one of you goes to the Friday prayer, let him take a ritual bath (ghusl)."
