Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three things will remain in my ummah continuously until the Hour is established: wailing over the dead, boasting about lineage, and relying on the stars."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the voice of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was weeping. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) weeping as she recited this verse of the Book of Allah: "And the stupor of death has come in truth; that is what you used to flee from," the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held back. Then he went in, then he gave the greeting of salam, then he said: "O Umm Salamah, may Allah Almighty grant you something better in its place." When he left, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. He said: "O Messenger of Allah! I saw that you disliked going in because they were wailing." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not enter a house in which there is wailing or a black dog."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Ayyub bin Nahik, whom a group declared da'if (weak). Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy) and said: "He makes mistakes."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was walking along with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when I heard the voice of someone crying out in grief. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and see what has happened." The people said: "Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) has died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has not died." When that man, who had been unconscious, came to, and was told that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had come to him, he met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I fell unconscious, and the women began to cry out: 'Alas, the mighty one! Alas, the mountain!' Then an angel who had a mace placed that mace between my legs and said: 'Are you as this woman says?' I said: 'No.' Had I said 'Yes', he would have struck me (with the mace)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Al-A'mash did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), and there is criticism about Muhammad bin Jabir al-Hanafi.

Al-Hasan al-Basri narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) fell unconscious, and his sister began saying: "Alas, the mountain!" or some other word like it. When he came to, he said: "All day today you have kept hurting me." She said: "May grief befall me if I hurt you!" Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "An angel who rebuked severely, whenever you said 'He is such-and-such', kept saying: 'Are you like that?' and I would say: 'No.'"
