Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was walking along with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when I heard the voice of someone crying out in grief. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and see what has happened." The people said: "Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) has died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has not died." When that man, who had been unconscious, came to, and was told that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had come to him, he met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I fell unconscious, and the women began to cry out: 'Alas, the mighty one! Alas, the mountain!' Then an angel who had a mace placed that mace between my legs and said: 'Are you as this woman says?' I said: 'No.' Had I said 'Yes', he would have struck me (with the mace)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Al-A'mash did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), and there is criticism about Muhammad bin Jabir al-Hanafi.
