وَعَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثٌ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يَدَعُهُنَّ النَّاسُ - أَوْ لَا يَتْرُكُهُنَّ النَّاسُ : الطَّعْنُ فِي النَّسَبِ ، وَالنِّيَاحَةُ ، وَقَوْلُهُمْ : إِنَّا مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا ، وَنَجْمِ كَذَا " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three things belong to the affairs of the Jahiliyyah which people will not leave (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) which people will not abandon: attacking people's lineage, wailing over the dead, and their saying: 'Rain has come down upon us because of such-and-such a star and such-and-such a star.'"
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Kathir bin Abdullah al-Muzani, who is da'if (weak).
