What may be said of the deceased of what was true of him

Sayyidah Umm Abbas narrates: Sayyidah Umm Sa'd began saying: "Woe to the mother of Sa'd for Sa'd! He was brave and resolute." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not say more than this, do not say more than this. By Allah! I know that he was firm and careful in the affair of Allah, and strong in the affair of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Muslim al-Mula'i, who is da'if (weak).

He narrated this from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who says: When his (Sa'd's) bier was lifted, Umm Sa'd said while weeping: "Woe to the mother of Sa'd for Sa'd! He was brave and resolute, and a chief through whom every breach was filled." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every woman who weeps lies, except the woman who weeps over Sa'd."

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that she said: "O Messenger of Allah! The women of Banu Makhzum have gathered to mourn al-Walid bin al-Walid bin al-Mughirah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her permission. Then she recited this verse while weeping: "I weep for al-Walid bin al-Walid bin al-Mughirah; I weep for al-Walid bin al-Walid, the brother of the clan (that is, a prominent member of it)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Thabit Abu Hamzah al-Thumali, who is da'if (weak).
