Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him), that he went out (on a journey) with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until, when they reached al-Kharrar, he went into the water to take a bath. Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) was a handsome man with a fair, radiant body. Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by him and said: "I have never seen beauty like (what I see) today, not even the skin of a secluded maiden." Not long passed before Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) fell down. So the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for him and said: "For what reason does one of you kill his brother? Whom do you suspect?" They said: "Amir bin Rabi'ah." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Amir and called for a vessel containing water, then ordered him to wash in the water his face, the edges of his hands, his knees and the edges of his feet. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the two ends of Amir's waist-wrapper and its inner part and dipped them in the water, then poured the vessel over the head of Sayyiduna Sahl and turned the vessel over from behind his back. So Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) recovered, with nothing wrong with him.

The narrator said: So he (Sahl, may Allah be pleased with him) fell down, until he could not even raise his head. The narrator said: This was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you suspect anyone?" They said: "No, O Messenger of Allah, except that Amir bin Rabi'ah said such and such to him." The narrator said: So he (peace and blessings be upon him) called him (Sahl) and called Amir bin Rabi'ah, and said: "Subhan Allah! Why does one of you kill his brother? When you see something in your brother that pleases you, supplicate for blessing for him." The narrator said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him (Amir) to wash for him. So he washed in the vessel his face, the backs of his palms, his elbows, his chest, the inner part of his waist-wrapper, his knees and the edges of his feet. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order, and that water was poured over Sahl's head and the vessel was turned over behind him (I think the narrator also said that he was ordered to drink a few sips of that water). Then he was ordered, so he got up and set off with the caravan.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about a man who comes close to his wife and emits madhi (pre-seminal fluid). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should wash his private part and perform ablution." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! What if some of it gets on his garment? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should wash the place where he thinks it has touched."
