Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf says that Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him), the brother of Banu Adi bin Ka'b, saw Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was bathing at al-Kharrar with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: By Allah! I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, nor even the skin of a secluded maiden. Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) collapsed, and he was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Will you come to Sahl bin Hunayf? He cannot even raise his head. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you suspect anyone concerning him?" The people said: Yes, Amir bin Rabi'ah passed by him while he was bathing, and he said: By Allah! I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, nor even the skin of a secluded maiden. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) summoned Amir bin Rabi'ah and, expressing his anger with him, said: "Why would one of you kill his brother? Why did you not pray for blessing? Now wash yourself for him." So Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) washed for him, and Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) set off with the caravan, with nothing wrong with him.
