Imam Muslim used Abd al-Rahman bin Hujayrah and Abdullah bin al-Walid as evidence, and both of them are Syrian narrators.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hani (may Allah be pleased with him) that when he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as part of a delegation, he said: "O Messenger of Allah! What thing makes Paradise obligatory?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hold fast to excellence in speech and to feeding people."
This is a sound hadith in which there is no hidden defect ('illah), and the two of them (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. The defect in their view is that Hani bin Yazid has no narrator other than his son Shurayh. However, I have already stated the condition at the beginning of this book: when a well-known Companion has only one well-known Tabi'i narrating from him, we will use him as evidence and declare his hadith sahih, because it is sahih on the condition of both of them. Imam Bukhari used as evidence the narrations of Qays bin Abi Hazim from Mirdas al-Aslami and of Qays from Adi bin Amirah, while they have no narrator other than Qays. Likewise, Imam Muslim used as evidence the narrations of Abu Malik al-Ashja'i and of Majza'ah bin Zahir, each from his own father. Therefore, according to their own principle, using the narration of Shurayh bin Hani from his father as evidence becomes binding, because al-Miqdam and his father Shurayh are among the senior Tabi'in, and Hani bin Yazid came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a delegation.

Sayyiduna Shurayh bin Hani narrates from his father, Hani bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him), that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a delegation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard people calling him by the kunyah 'Abu al-Hakam', so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah alone is al-Hakam (the true Judge); why do you take the kunyah Abu al-Hakam?" He said: "When there is a dispute among my people, I judge between them and both parties are satisfied." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you have any children?" He said: "Hani's sons are Shurayh, Abdullah and Muslim." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is the eldest of them?" He said: "Shurayh." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you are 'Abu Shurayh'." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for him and for his children.
I have mentioned Shurayh bin Hani in the book "al-Ma'rifah" among the Mukhadramun; he lived in both the time of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah) and Islam but did not see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he is counted among the Tabi'in.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Malik bin Nadlah al-Jushami (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a shabby state. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you have wealth?" I said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What kind of wealth?" I said: "Of every kind: camels, horses, slaves and sheep." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Since Allah has given you wealth, its effect should be visible on you." The narrator says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are the camels of your people born with sound ears, and then you take a razor and cut their ears and say that they are 'buhur' (earless), and you slit their ears or their hides and say that they are 'surum' (forbidden), and then you make them unlawful for yourself and your family?" I said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then whatever Allah has given you is lawful for you; the arm of Allah is stronger than your arm, and the razor of Allah is sharper than your razor."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain. A group of the imams of Kufah narrated it from Abu Ishaq, and Abu al-Za'ra' Amr bin Amr corroborated Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i. The two of them did not record it because Malik bin Nadlah has no narrator other than his son Abu al-Ahwas, whereas Imam Muslim recorded the narration of Abu al-Malih bin Usamah from his father, who has no narrator other than his son, and likewise the narration of Abu Malik al-Ashja'i from his father.
