It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Indeed, He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his index finger on his eyes and his thumbs on his ears.
This is a sahih (authentic) hadith which the two of them did not record, although Imam Muslim used Harmalah bin Imran and Abu Yunus as evidence, and there is agreement on all the other narrators. This hadith has a supporting narration (shahid) on the condition of Imam Muslim:

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The word "Sadiq" is pronounced on the pattern of amir (sadiq) and also on the pattern of sikkit (siddiq); Ibn Makula mentioned both forms.
(2962). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts of "al-Mustadrak" have it this way here, whereas the actual recitation of the verse is: "inna Allaha kana sami'an basira" (Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing) (Surat al-Nisa': 58), as will come at number (2962).
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator Muhammad bin Ayyub is "Ibn al-Durays", and Abu al-Rabi' al-Zahrani is "Sulayman bin Dawud al-Ataki". Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (4728) and Ibn Hibban (265) narrated it through various routes from Abd Allah bin Yazid al-Muqri' with this chain. Important point: This narration will come later in abridged form at number (2962), mawquf on Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), without the words "fa-wada'a isba'ahu" (then he placed his finger).
