It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Since the world was made and until the Day of Resurrection, there has been no trial greater than the trial of the Dajjal. Every prophet warned his people about him, and I am telling you something about him which no prophet before me told." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on his eye and said: "I bear witness that Allah is certainly not one-eyed."

Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" as a corroboration or supporting report because of Hisham bin Sa'd. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Whether Zayd bin Aslam heard from Jabir is disputed. Ibn Abd al-Barr says in "al-Tamhid" (3/251) that one group holds he did not hear from him while others affirm it. In Ibn Abd al-Barr's view, his hearing from Jabir cannot be rejected, because he heard from Ibn Umar, and Ibn Umar died about four years before Jabir. Note / Clarification: The narrator Ibn Abi Fudayk is Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Muslim bin Abi Fudayk al-Madani. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (in al-Musnad) at 22/(14112) by way of Zuhayr bin Muhammad al-Tamimi, from Zayd bin Aslam. Grading: All its narrators are thiqah, and al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir called its chain "jayyid" (good) in "al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah" (19/167, Hajar edition).
