It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "He said: My Lord, show me (Yourself) so that I may look at You" [Surah al-A'raf: 143]. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So Allah revealed only this much of His light - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with half of the tip of his little finger, and struck Hammad's chest with it - and the mountain crumbled to pieces."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two of them did not record it.
