When a servant commits adultery, faith leaves him
Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 66

أخبرنا أبو بكر أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه ببغداد، حدثنا جعفر بن أبي عثمان الطَّيالسي، حدثنا عفَّان وأبو سلمة قالا: حدثنا حماد. وأخبرني أبو بكر بن عبد الله أخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان، حدثنا هُدْبة، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن ثابت، عن أنس: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال في هذه الآية: ﴿فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ﴾ [الأعراف: 143] قال: "بَدَا منه قَدْرُ هذا" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning this verse: "So when his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain" [Surah al-A'raf: 143]: "Allah revealed only this much of His manifestation" (and he (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated with a gesture).

(1) إسناد صحيح أبو سلمة: هو موسى بن إسماعيل التَّبُوذَكي، وهدبة: هو ابن خالد.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator Abu Salamah is "Musa bin Isma'il al-Tabudhaki", and Hudbah is "Hudbah bin Khalid".
وأخرجه بنحوه أحمد 19/ (12260) و 20/ (13178)، والترمذي (3074) من طرق عن حماد بن سلمة، به. وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in his Musnad 19/(12260) and 20/(13178), and Imam al-Tirmidhi at (3074), through various routes from Hammad bin Salamah with this chain.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan sahih".
