It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Modesty and faith are joined together; when one of them is taken away, the other is taken away as well."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two of them (Imam Bukhari and Muslim); they used its narrators as evidence, but they did not record it with this wording.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(7331). Grading: (1) It is "sahih as mawquf" as a saying of Ibn Umar. The narrators of this chain are thiqah, but Musa bin Isma'il (Abu Salamah al-Tabudhaki) was inconsistent ("idtirab") in it: sometimes he made it marfu' and sometimes mawquf on Ibn Umar, as said by Muhammad bin Ghalib who narrated from him (as quoted by al-Bayhaqi, Shu'ab al-Iman: 7331). Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym narrated it "marfu'" in "al-Hilyah" (4/ 297) from Abd Allah bin Ahmad al-Dawraqi, from Musa bin Isma'il, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Musa bin Isma'il was contradicted in making it marfu' by Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak (al-Adab al-Mufrad: 1313), Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah: 8/ 525, 11/ 28) and Wahb bin Jarir (Ta'zim Qadr al-Salah: 884). All three narrated it from Jarir bin Hazim as "mawquf" on Ibn Umar. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar saying is reported from Ibn Abbas with al-Marwazi (885), and its chain can possibly be graded hasan ("tahsin").
