Collected reports on the remaining virtues of Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I have been given nine things that have not been given to any other woman, except for Sayyidah Maryam bint Imran (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) brought my image in his hand and told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to marry me. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, I was a virgin, and he did not marry any virgin other than me. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, his head was in my lap, and the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is in my house. The angels surrounded my house. When revelation descended upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was with his family, they would move away from him; but when I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) under his blanket, revelation would descend upon him. I am the daughter of his successor (khalifah) and of his Siddiq. The ruling of my innocence was revealed from the heavens. I was created pure and remained with one who is pure, and I have been promised forgiveness and a noble provision.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and part of it is mentioned in the Sahih and other books; the chain of Abu Ya'la contains narrators whom I do not know.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: There are seven qualities in me that are not in any other woman, except for the qualities Allah Almighty granted to Sayyidah Maryam bint Imran (may Allah be pleased with her); and by Allah! I do not say this as a boast over any of my fellow wives. At this Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) said to her: "O Mother of the Believers! What are those qualities?" Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The angel descended with my image. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married me when I was seven years old, and when I was sent to his home I was nine years old. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married me I was a virgin, and he made no one share in this with me (that is, he did not marry any other virgin). Revelation would come to him while he and I were under one blanket. I was the most beloved of people to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I am the daughter of the person most beloved to him. Verses of the Qur'an were revealed concerning me, when the Ummah was close to being ruined on my account. I have seen Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him), and none of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) other than me saw Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my house, no one but me attended to him, and the angel grew strong." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:

Al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrators of one of al-Tabarani's chains are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): I submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Who is the most beloved of people to you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why is that?" I submitted: "So that I too may love the one whom you love." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Aishah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Abdullah bin Shaqiq narrates: I asked Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Of all the women, who was the most beloved to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "Aishah." I asked: "And who among the men?" She replied: "Her father."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was weeping. He asked: "Why are you weeping?" I submitted: "Fatimah has reviled me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "O Fatimah! Have you reviled Aishah?" She submitted: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not love the one whom I love?" She submitted: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "And do you not dislike the one whom I dislike?" She submitted: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I love Aishah, so you love her too." Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Now I will never say anything to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that would hurt her."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form; its chain contains a narrator, Mujalid, and he is hasan al-hadith (sound in hadith). The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I have been given seven distinctions that were not given to any of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In my own person I was the most beloved of all people to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and my father was the most beloved of all people to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, and he did not marry any virgin other than me. Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) would descend upon him with revelation while I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) under the blanket, and Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) did not do this with any wife other than me. My turn consisted of two days and two nights, while all the other wives had one day and one night each. The narrator says: After that she mentioned the whole hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and it contains a text that has been declared weak.

It is reported about Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the day Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Today the person has died who was the most beloved in the world to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I seek forgiveness from Allah; her father, however, is an exception."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.

Amr bin al-Harith bin al-Mustaliq narrates: Ziyad sent wealth to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and sent extra to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The messenger offered an apology about this to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Ziyad is apologising to us, when Aishah used to be given more by one who was far greater in excellence than Ziyad, and that is the Messenger of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).

Urwah narrates: I said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "When I reflect on you, I am amazed. I have found you to have the deepest understanding of religion among people, and I thought: what could prevent that? She is the wife of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). Then I found you to be learned in the history of the Arabs, their genealogies and their poetry, and I thought: what could prevent that? Her father was the great scholar of Quraysh. But what amazes me is that I have found you also know about medicine; where did you acquire this knowledge?" She took my hand and said: "O Uraiyyah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fall ill often, and the physicians of the Arabs and the non-Arabs would come and send medicine for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); from that I learned this."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and these words are his. Ahmad recorded something similar, except that he has these words: Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I used to tend the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in these illnesses, and that is where (the knowledge of medicine) came from."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Mu'awiyah al-Zubayri, about whom Abu Hatim said he is mustaqim al-hadith (sound in hadith), and there is weakness in him. The rest of the narrators of Ahmad and of al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy), except that Ahmad said: "From Hisham bin Urwah, that Urwah said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)", so outwardly the chain appears to be broken (munqati'), while al-Tabarani said in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir: "From Hisham bin Urwah, from his father", so the chain is connected (muttasil); and Allah knows best.

It is reported about Masruq that he was asked: "Did Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) also know the science of inheritance?" He said: "By the One in whose hand is my soul! I have seen the elders among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asking Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the rulings of inheritance."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Urwah narrates: I have not seen any woman more knowledgeable than Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) in medicine, jurisprudence (fiqh) and poetry.
Al-Tabarani recorded it with the same chain as the previous narration.

It is narrated from al-Zuhri that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the knowledge of the women of this Ummah, among them the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), were gathered together, the knowledge of Aishah would be greater than their knowledge."
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a mursal report, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "By Allah! I have never seen any orator more eloquent and more perceptive than Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Musa bin Talhah narrates: I have not seen anyone more eloquent than Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: narrations about her sermon have already passed earlier in the chapter on the virtues of her father.

Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "By Allah! I am not as awed when speaking with anyone as I am awed in the presence of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Whenever I heard her speak, the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to my mind."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Sa'ib al-Kalbi, who is kadhdhab (a liar).

Amir al-Sha'bi narrates: A man said: "To me, all the Mothers of the Believers are more beloved than Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her)." I said to him: "In this you have gone against the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the most beloved of all the Mothers of the Believers to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."

Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I came to the house of Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her). I said: Where is the Messenger of Allah? She said: He is inside the house, and revelation is coming down to him. Then I stayed there for as long as Allah willed, and afterwards I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O Aishah! This is Jibril conveying salam (greetings of peace) to you."
At-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ya'qub bin Humayd, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Aishah's excellence over all women is like the excellence of tharid over all other foods."
At-Tabarani recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman did not hear from his father (Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, may Allah be pleased with him).

Mus'ab bin Sa'd reports from Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), perhaps from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: "Aishah has the same excellence over all women that tharid has over all other foods."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Qurrah bin Iyas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Aishah has the same excellence over all women that tharid has over all other foods."
At-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: One day I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a pleasant mood, so I said: O Messenger of Allah! Supplicate to Allah Almighty for me. He said: "O Allah! Forgive Aishah her past and future sins, and what she did in secret and what she did openly (forgive that as well)." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) laughed so much that, from the intensity of her laughter, her head fell into her lap. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you pleased with my supplication? She replied: Why would I not be pleased with your supplication? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah! I make this supplication for my Ummah in every prayer."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ahmad bin Mansur al-Ramadi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "You were named Umm al-Mu'minin (Mother of the Believers) so that your good fortune would be made manifest, and this name of yours was decided before you were born."
