وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُصْطَلِقِ قَالَ : بَعَثَ زِيَادٌ إِلَى أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِمَالٍ وَفَضَّلَ عَائِشَةَ . فَجَعَلَ الرَّسُولُ يَعْتَذِرُ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيْنَا زِيَادٌ ! فَقَدْ كَانَ يُفَضِّلُهَا مَنْ كَانَ أَعْظَمُ عَلَيْنَا تَفْضِيلًا مِنْ زِيَادٍ ؛ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Amr bin al-Harith bin al-Mustaliq narrates: Ziyad sent wealth to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and sent extra to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The messenger offered an apology about this to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Ziyad is apologising to us, when Aishah used to be given more by one who was far greater in excellence than Ziyad, and that is the Messenger of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
